Hayley Williams

[edit]

Please read WP:MUSIC to see why Hayley Williams does not meet the necessary notability guidelines to have her own article. Nouse4aname (talk) 11:21, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop recreating the Hayley Williams article unless there is a clear consensus to have an article on her. Right now, she fails our notability guidelines and consensus reflects that. either way (talk) 12:13, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of File:Johndelaney.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Johndelaney.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hello and well met!

[edit]

I noticed your edit recently on the Rory Gallagher article. It appears we have a great deal in common, in some respects. I've been planning to attack the Gallagher article for well over a year or two now, and keep getting sidetracked uploading photos and such. I would welcome another editor (especially one with access to The Irish Times in covering Rory's biography, since they are now requiring payment online for the favour of using their columns). Would you consider joining in this? I feel it is a real shame that it has been neglected for such a long time.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 22:22, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rory Gallagher

[edit]

If you would join me in this venture, it would be a great relief. I dc have what I think is still working, the email and phone numbers for Donal Gallagher, Rory's brother, and buisness manager-- still living in his old London flat. I don't think it would be considered "original research" to ask him for sources for the article, do you? I've been told Donal's son, Daniel is more internet savvy, and located in the same place. I'm in Washington, D.C. and phoning there would be expensive with all the questions I have! I think because of Rory's shy and retiring manner, he really ducked the American radar, and there are people just now finding out about him. If you know of anyone who is good with Discography, I moved the albums from the Taste band to Gallagher's article, and it's bigger than his own article, almost. Also, I have a string of radio interviews, and a person who has kept track of their sources, on camera on YouTube although I find using sources from there distasteful and unreliable. Thanks for your answer on the work page! I just didn't want to advertise a set of phone numbers or the fact that I think I still have them. Sources are what's needed if you know of any, I'd like to read up some and expand the text. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 17:25, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can I marry you? --No, seriously, Rory Gallagher!

[edit]

Hey N TF- Yes, yes, I have reference sources and some other stuff, including the email and phones for Rory Gallagher's brother and nephew, Donal Gallagher, and Daniel Gallagher. I'm not sure if it isn't skirting the line between the original research rule, but Rory was so huge in Europe, yet many North Americans never ever heard of him, due to his fear of flying and claustrophobia. The reason I mention the email of Donal and everything is that the article was covered with urban myths and whatnot. I hate reverting anything, but finally just did so over a "supposed" Hendrix quote that I have video of Rory himself denying. I do have video of Donal speaking aggressively of his amazement that Rory turned down Mick Taylor's position in the Rolling Stones. That rumour is true! My problem, is that I'm in North America now, (not that Brasil would have been any better in receiving the Irish Times, and they make you pay for back articles online, I can't afford it. So, YES, please join and help this article with me. With the exception of the guitar section, nobody has really made a stab at it since it was a stub in 2005- but it still gets hits! Please respond on my talk page, and I'll do the same on yours, OK? --Leahtwosaints (talk) 07:24, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Discograpy for Rory

[edit]

I'm clueless when it comes to really putting together a decent album page, (or really, even starting one) and could use your help, esp. on his collaboration albums with Muddy Waters, B.B. King and Lonnie Donegan, for example, and it would benefit not just Gallagher's discography and text in the long run, but several other very notable musicians' discographies as well. The thing also that poses problems for me is whether to include "best of" compilations, especially posthumousreleases that include both old and new material. That isn't even mentioning all the Rockpalast, videoed albums, jazz and blues festivals--one is one film called Irish Tour 1974 which is also out on album. How does anyone differentiate the two? Please help me begin some of the album pages for the ones that are missing! I just don't know enough about the chronology of Rory's albums to do it right! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 15:32, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bless you!

[edit]

I think that's a great idea! Check out about 3 posts earlier in my talk page, some advice for beginning a page for an album, since I know so little! It may be the first relevant album Gallagher made that isn't already a stub. I think I've gathered about 4-5 people who have said they are willing to work on various aspects of the Gallagher article, so that's great. Do you know how to begin an informal Wikipedia work group for the article? I'd really like to see folks work together.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 14:49, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, cool! I'm going to make a list of people who have said that they'll try to lend a hand, though of course they're currently tied up with other stuff, and some know zip about Rory Gallagher (but are willing to give it a try). I suppose I can make a section in my Userpage for now. If you, too can ask around, -oh, and comb through the non-archived messages on my talk page, you can make a list and help take charge too. Do you think that you can talk anybody else into helping? Look through my talk page, several people there, and maybe people from either Wikiproject Ireland, or Wikiproject Belfast, since it was Rory's "musical" or "spiritual" home, depending on what interview you hear, and where Gerry McAvoy, and Mark Feltham are from (both were in Rory's band & also in Nine Below Zero, where they still play. Thanks for taking the initiative on this. My computer is in the shop for major repair- the drivers AND even before that, it went offline, so I'm borrowing my Dad's computer for the week or so, when I can get him to let me that is! Let me know if I forgot to tell you of the dozens of great video interviews posted in You Tube that I have in a playlist under the name 4rainbowed -it's marked for all public to view but I can give you the details of the playlist- and also, I have Rory's brother (and business manager), Donal Gallagher's email and address in Rory's old home in London, if we have solid questions that can only be answered by him- possibly treading the line of "original research", but not the kind of questions I have.. more about where to find sources in print. I don't have any of Gallagher's albums, but would willingly begin album stubs if I did. Also, a HUGE resource which I can't find where I live is the book written by Gerry McAvoy, Riding Shotgun - 35 years on the road with Rory Gallagher and Nine Below Zero. I believe that's the title. Can you find it? I'll help now as much as I can, and if we both can find other recruits it would help greatly.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 18:32, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great. I'll compile a list of people who hopefully will also be working on the article (and the related ones, of course); and try to also put together a list of resources (the video interviews, books, guitar magazines that I know of) and a couple of email addresses; both to Donal Gallagher, but also a couple fanatical fans who still going strong who know of more resources.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 19:53, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Irish bands, Rory Gallagher and Thin Lizzy/Phil Lynott

[edit]

Hi, I thought I'd contact the people who may be willing to edit/contribute to the Thin Lizzy articles, and the ones for Rory Gallagher and Phil Lynott. These are the people who have shown interest that I've thought might be involved, including yourself:

Would you consider making a banner for all the Thin Lizzy articles if they are not already in existance? I've begun to add photos to some of them, and more will follow! This will necessarily involve expanding the band page, and should flow into the individual members pages as well. Can you help make one for the Rory Gallagher Band? My computer talents aren't so great. It would be a big help!

About the people I listed, you, DISEman and Discographer both are willing to help with discography and album pages, (and some has been done already for Rory Gallagher, separate from the article). Kohoutek1138, and BNutzer may help with editing if asked nicely- I already did in advance for Rory Gallagher, but they may be prodded into helping with the Thin Lizzy articles. Also, Agadant just brought Van Morrison's article to GA-status-- in fact, I gave her a barnstar for it; it was that impressive. That leaves myself and you! I think that joining the

Wikiproject:Belfast if you haven't done so... it should help in making articles on people like Phil Lynott, Brian Downey, and Gerry McAvoy more of a priority. Maybe we can enlist the help of others on the Wikiprojects for Irish music?

I sent to the UK and got a hardback book by Gerry McAvoy: Riding Shotgun 35 Years on the Road With Rory Gallagher and Nine Below Zero. I suspect that it's more about McAvoy than Gallagher, but it should help somewhat as a solid reference and I've got two playlists in You Tube with live interviews with Rory Gallagher. I've also begun another playlist of documentaries and special interviews for Thin Lizzy and Phil Lynott. My You Tube playlist site name is 4rainbowed there. What is your You Tube site? If we connect there as friends, you can see all the Lizzy and Rory stuff I've gathered. Let me know what you think about all of this. Please ask other editors who may have an interest in these Irish bands to join us, and we might possibly have a Wikiproject we can list so others might find us! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 16:51, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Thanks.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:42, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
