Michael Jackson

I added Michael Jackson's new name to his page because I had read in several places that he had changed it to Mikaeel. Is that not constructive? (Soleado (talk) 17:43, 3 April 2009 (UTC))

There has been no official confirmation from Jackson himself, to confirm he is a Muslim or called Mikaeel. This has been discussed at length on the article's talk page, including here, here and all over here. All evidence points towards the story being totally untrue. At a recent press conference he was introduced as 'Michael Jackson'. Even when information is reported in a reliable source, it's not always true. "Just because you read it in a magazine, or see it on a TV screen, don't make it factual", as Jackson himself said. If you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask on my talk page. :) Pyrrhus16 18:00, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the information. (Soleado (talk) 02:11, 5 April 2009 (UTC))

You might as well nominate it for GA at the same time, if your ready that is. — R2 22:48, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I think it's good to go. I'll add it now. Pyrrhus16 11:33, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Timeline

I think you should add a timeline to the Sony/ATV article, like the one at Ryan White. Would look good. Just a thought. — R2 17:57, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, good idea. Do you think it will be good for GAN afterwards? Pyrrhus16 18:23, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I can give it a minor clean up beforehand if you like. — R2 18:48, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Revert at ISO 639-1 language matrix

I think you may have mistaken a good-faith page blank by Fodor Attila (talk · contribs) as vandalism at ISO 639-1 language matrix. Could you review the changes made by this user and retract your warning if you agree? Wronkiew (talk) 17:51, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Cool, thanks for taking care of this. Wronkiew (talk) 00:07, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Billie Jean

Hey it wasn't promoted I'm afraid. I would suggest fixing the fair use issues User:Awadewit had, until he is happy with them. Then take it back to WP:PR, then I'll call in as many copy editors as possible, then we can try FAC again. Also, the auction has been canceled. — R2 00:23, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

I only nominated it on the 7th of April. I still see pages at FAC that were nominated in early March that have opposes. Oh well, we'll give it another shot later on. Great that the auction is cancelled though. Trying to sell his stuff against his wishes. Although, I've got a feeling that they'll probably sue him now, for lost earnings or something. Pyrrhus16 08:03, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm not sure how they decide when to close an FAC, if they think it's not going well I assume they remove it from the list. Also glad the auction is off. — R2 14:38, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Gives me more time to focus on this. Once the lead is tightened and referenced, and all the artists are added, I'll take it to FLC. Without sounding pompous, I don't think there is much you could fail it on. Pyrrhus16 14:52, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Nothing at the FLC center shocks me anymore. — R2 14:55, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
No doubt they'll find a comma that should be a semicolon, and won't bother to fix it. Pyrrhus16 15:02, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Those sections are a pain in the butt. Is there a way to remove them? Pyrrhus16 08:03, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Lol, we did remove the genre section of the infobox once (from the main template, so it affected all articles automatically), per a discussion I started. A lot of wikipedians freaked out, there was debate that took up 7 archives and then it was reverted. — R2 14:38, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Probably the wikipedians that don't have song articles on their watchlist. ;) Pyrrhus16 14:52, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Good job, the article has passed! Also, are you working on any other Michael Jackson single songs in the future? CarpetCrawlermessage me 06:27, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

I was wondering about P.Y.T., and if you wanted any help on it. :) I'm not good at finding production info, but I'm pretty good at finding reception/reviews from newspapers, and such. :) I was wondering if you wanted me to lend you a hand on anything. DYK for Sony/ATV Music Publishing

Advise

Useful advice. Everything OK? You been quite at Wikipedia recently. — R2 09:23, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

I like the idea of adding a bit more info on the artists. I was gong to base the design off of List of calypso-like genres, which is why the names are bolded. Something like:
  • Elvis Presley[1] was an American rock 'n' roll singer. Dubbed "The King of Rock 'n' Roll", Presley mixed "black" and "white" sounds, making him both popular and controversial. Presley died in 1977 at the age of 42. He remains one of the best-selling and most influential artists in the history of music. His hits include "Hound Dog" and "Jailhouse Rock".[2]
  • Emma Bunton[3] is an English pop singer and songwriter. Bunton rose to fame in the successful '90s girl group, the Spice Girls, in which she was known as "Baby Spice". Following the group's split in 2001, the singer embarked upon a solo career. Bunton's solo releases include "Free Me" and "Maybe".[4]
Then I had a vision of them asking for just the names. But yeah, I think I'll add it now. :) I've not been that busy on here because the Easter holidays have ended. Also waiting for the Bubbles and Sony/ATV articles to be reviewed at GAN before I start anything new. Pyrrhus16 14:21, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
OK, no problem. Keep up the good work. — R2 15:35, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Cheers, will do. Pyrrhus16 15:37, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

"Torture"

I was looking up information for The Jacksons' song "Torture", because I want to create the article and find enough information for a DYK? nomination. I found some VERY interesting info about how a woman was suing Jermaine because he used her ideas for the video. She sued him and the band in 1984, and as of an article from 1988, the lawsuit was still ongoing. Do you happen to know when the lawsuit case ended, and if it was settled out of court? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. :) CarpetCrawlermessage me 08:15, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Wonderful, thank you very much for that extra info! I will DEFINITELY use all of that in the article. :) Unfortunate that we couldn't find anything on the result of the lawsuit case. Oh well. By the way, I found a ton of VERY interesting information about the video. I know you found that Michael and Jermaine weren't in the video, but did you know that a DUMMY was put in place of Michael in the video? That's going to be the DYK? hook. :) Believe it or not, they dressed up a dummy to look like Michael for the video, which is why "Michael" only appears in long shots, and not doing anything. The article is currently in my sandbox if you want to take a look at what I've added so far. :) I still have yet to add the music video info (It was also choreographed by Paula Abdul according to my research!) and a lot of the writing and development. Also, about PYT, I will do some research on reviews tonight, and see what I can find. :) CarpetCrawlermessage me 18:45, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
And now the article is live. Thanks for your help! :) CarpetCrawlermessage me 21:37, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
When I figure out how the lawsuit ended, and add that information in, I will definitely try to nominate the article. :) I'll try and get to work on P.Y.T. by Thursday or so, as my schedule is incredibly hectic and tight for the next week or so, with tonight and Tuesday being the absolute worst. This thursday I should get SOME breathing room. :) CarpetCrawlermessage me 19:54, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
If you have any info to add about "Torture", feel free. :) I would love to work with you on it to nominate it for GA! Especially since the article is pretty much almost done. I think if we could get the lawsuit info we could certainly nominate it. :) CarpetCrawlermessage me 03:28, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Dangerous Award — For making numerous improvements to the Michael Jackson WikiProject
For your dedication to the Project, articles and everything that is MJ! You have set a wonderful example for everyone else to follow. I present you with this award on behalf of the community for getting numerous articles relating to Michael Jackson on the main page (via DYK?) and for getting half a dozen articles to GA. Enjoy. Something funny that I thought you'd get a kick out of

First of all, whoa! What an award you got! And you deserve it a lot. :) And second, I thought you'd get a kick out of the title of this article. I'm researching for PYT, and found this. [1] Have a good day! CarpetCrawlermessage me 09:34, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

The media turned against him so quickly. — R2 12:15, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, that's true. Some of the stories they come up with, though. Totally ridiculous. Like the one that reported Michael had ritually sacrificed 42 cows in order to curse Steven Spielberg, who didn't let him play Peter Pan in a film. He also bathed in sheeps' blood. P.Y.T. reception = completed!!

OK, I have went ahead and added the reception info I could find for the P.Y.T. article! I apologize, as I thought I would find MUCH more than I did. I am actually, brutally dissappointed. All of my research places and sources, had NOTHING! Even Google News had nothing. Thanks for letting me do what I could to help, and I apologize that it's not as plentiful as I'd like it to be... I think it's nice and all, but I don't think I did enough in the artice to deserve my name attached to it in the nominations, as well as yours. Let's hope for the best with the nomination! CarpetCrawlermessage me 00:10, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
