Thanks for uploading Image:Hindu Temple Old Mirpur-001.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 02:48, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Hi Rajput m16!
We thank you for uploading Image:Mirpur road-001.jpg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Proposed deletion of Mohammed Saleem

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mohammed Saleem, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Thingg 15:51, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation for all the notices on here

[edit]

Hello Rajput m16. Apologies for the sudden mess of tags on this page - they appear automatically when articles are tagged using certain tools. I don't believe the page you created, Mohammed Saleem, is a hoax article, so I've removed the warning on the page and the notice of Speedy Deletion. However, unless you add more content to the article, especially to establish why Mr Saleem is notable enough to be included in an encyclopedia (with reliable sources to back it up), the article may still be deleted. If you have any questions, please leave a note on my talk page. All the best, EyeSerenetalk 16:53, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I can't replace pictures, but I can put the text back. I thought your too-short article about Mohammed Saleem was a hoax, which shed doubt as to the validity of your other edits. The subject is valid, but you really need to add a lot more info about this guy. I'll revert back to your earlier edit on that Pakistan article. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:56, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. Simply go to the page and look on the tabs on top. The one on the right is marked "watch." Click it and it automatically adds the page to a list of your watched pages. As far as the Mohammed Saleem entry is concerned, it's likely to be deleted in the next couple of days if it isn't expanded. Another user found a link to his bio which you can find on the article's talk page. Hope this helps. Best, --PMDrive1061 (talk) 14:23, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flagging Mohammed Saleem for further review

[edit]

Hello, Rajput m16 … I recently encountered the article about Mohammed Saleem and in my opinion, it either lacks sufficient Attribution that it satisfies the Notability criteria for Biographies, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it violates a copyright.

I am considering tagging Mohammed Saleem (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) for deletion according to the Deletion policy … I do not have time to examine the article in depth at the moment, and it may improve over time, in which case this warning was premature.

I have created this initial entry on your Talk page because you are either the original author of the article, or else a recent contributor to it; I will leave more detailed information regarding my specific concerns about the article on its Discussion page … please respond either there or on this Talk page, instead of on my Talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the conversation.

Be sure to read Ownership of articles, and remember that other editors may not share your opinion about the notability of the article's subject.

I do not mean to imply that your contribution is unappreciated … perhaps you should read Your first article … and remember, there was a time when I knew less about how Wikipedia works than you know right now, and I am always available to help you become a more proactive contributor.

Images

[edit]

Simply stated, you can not claim "own image released into public domain" for images that are not yours - for example, the ones that were taken from Locate India Flickr the BBC and APLLG to name a few. Uploading copyrighted images and mistagging them is a very fast way to get permanently blocked from editing. SkierRMH (talk) 05:09, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Said images are all copyrighted by their authors. You need to get specific written permission from each and every one of them through the OTRS - see the link to the Meta page system. I can tell you that you will not get it for the majority of these, specifically the ones from commercial sites like the BBC, and individual users that have specifically copyrighted images (like FLICKR) have marked them specifically as (c) and normally don't change that.SkierRMH (talk) 06:38, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Authority

[edit]
Hi Rajput m16. In reply to your query on my talk page IE:-
==pak==
Hi mate,
Just wanted to know who gave you the authority to fix & mend other peoples article on here?
Can you not consult the person before making the changes? Reply soon.
Thanks
Fix and mend is what I do :), along with many others on here. I take it you are specifically referring to the Mirpur article. If there is anything I am unsure about I either leave it, for another editor who may know or post a message on the relevant article talk page. For general advice on editing wiki take a look at:- Wikipedia:About. Also could you please type four tildes IE:- ~~~~ after placing a message on a talk page. That will automatically sign and date it with your name, which saves looking through the page history to see who is asking the question. :o)
Also with regard to uploading images, as mentioned by SkierRMH its not a good idea to upload other people's images and claim they are yours and licence them as Public Domain (WP:PD). Wikipedia is very fussy about copyright. a number of images you uploaded have already been deleted as copyright violations. I have tagged some others, where I have found them to be taken from other websites and inserted a link to those website as confirmation of the copyright. Some were scanned images from book such as the maps you uploaded and others may be too, such as this one:- Image:Mirpur regency.jpg as it seems rather like the image representations on the hotels official website here:- Regency Hotel - Guestbook. You currently have the images listed below credited to you. Would you please go through them and where they are not actually yours type {{Subst:copyvio|Author requests deletion ~~~~}} to the top of each image page?

Proposed deletion of Mirpur International Airport

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mirpur International Airport, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. Picasa Web

[edit]

Hi. I see that you are uploading images from Picasa Web, such as Image:Allama Iqbal Road.jpg, with an assertion that these are are licensed under creative commons license. I've been trying to verify this, so that we can be sure we are legally free to use these images, but Picasa Web doesn't, that I can see, display any such release. Their official blog seems to indicate otherwise, as it notes that "your photographs belong to you, and you should be free to decide how to share them." The terms & services link takes us to Google's general, which includes:[1]

It looks as though uploaders allow reuse by Google, but I don't see that it allows reuse elsewhere by others. If you can provide a link to where on their website they release these images, that would be very helpful. Thanks. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:01, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. If you have permission from the creator to use the images, then that needs to be noted. For instance, you might ask the creator to note the release of the image in the image description at the URL. We do have to verify permissions, since the distribution of images without permission is a matter of serious legal concern. If the creator has no problem with it, then neither does Wikipedia. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:37, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thanks for your willingness to follow through with this. Since I am far more familiar with the procedure for clearing text for re-use on Wikipedia, I am double-checking with administrators more accustomed to working images to be sure that the steps I give you are proper. I'll get back with you when I find out something definite. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:29, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All right. As I suspected, a note at the source page is sufficient. You can have the photographer of any images at that site who have given you permission to release them note the release in their image description. In this case, at the source, Mohsin could note in the image description that the image is released (and specifically under what license). The license he chooses must allow specifically (1) modification, (2) redistribution, and (3) use for any purpose, including commercial purpose. He does have the right to request credit for the photo and to require that derivative works use the same license.
If he doesn't want to put it on the website, he can give you a letter to send to the Wikimedia Foundation. There are instructions for how to ask for that here. The licensing requirements are the same that I posted in the previous paragraph. You can have him fill out a standard declaration of consent with specific details. After you get this from him, you send it on to Communications Committee at permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org. They will assign it a file # and attach it to the image to verify that we are allowed to use it.
It's probably best if you address this person about any and all images of his that you've used at once, since permission needs to be obtained for each image. If there are other photographers whose images you've used, you should go ahead and get permission from them now, too, to avoid having images deleted as copyright violations. It's a hassle, I know, but it's necessary to keep Wikipedia in compliance with US law. :/ --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:56, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. So far as I know, none of the images that you might have acquired from that source have been tagged for deletion. If they are, they will generally be deleted a week after tagging, if the problem is not resolved. However, even if that happens, you can place a note explaining that you are verifying permissions, and that can give you a little more time. Nevertheless, I'd take care of it as quickly as possible, just to be on the safe side. If an administrator working images should happen upon them and believe that they are blatantly incorrect in tagging, they might be deleted by Wikipedia:CSD#I9 without further notice. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:42, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:AJK council logo.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:AJK council logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by an adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 14:46, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. With respect to this, I see that you are the creator of the image, so I presume that you are one of the individuals at that page. Just as we discussed needing proof of permission with images you've been authorized to release by other photographers, we do need proof of permission here. Please either add a release to your website or mail the communications committee with a release. Thanks! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:35, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I don't see that the release has been added to the website. If that's where you've placed it, could you point out where on the website it is? If you've asserted authorship by mailing the communications committee, we need to leave the copyright tag on the imagine until the Wikimedia Foundation has a chance to process that mail. :) It isn't necessary to indicate that you've photoshopped the image, as long as the image and the photograph that have been modified are both yours to release. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:20, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop blanking the copyright notice prior to the resolution of this. I can't find any indication on the website that this image has been released. Is there a statement to that effect somewhere at [2]? --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:38, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, you need to demonstrate permission. We can't run any text or picture unless it is released under a license compatible with Wikipedia or unless it fits the fair use guidelines. I do not see any indication at the author's webpage that he permits this picture to be reused under a license that is compatible. Unless you can locate that, you either need to get the photographer to add it or to send an e-mail from an e-mail address associated with the website to the Communications Committee verifying that it can be reused. If we run copyrighted pictures without permission, we violate US law, and we risk serious legal problems for Wikipedia, as well as potentially damaging the copyright owners. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 02:17, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If the website doesn't grant us the right to use it, and you can't get permission from the photographer, then the image will be deleted. If you want to try to write for permission, there are suggestions and instructions for doing so over here. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 02:33, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All right, then. We'll hope that they are willing to share. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 02:39, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see if I can figure it out. I may need you to tell me what image you mean, unless I can find it in your contribution history. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:03, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Although the deletion template mentions copyright, it seems like the image is tagged for deletion because it duplicates another image already on Wikipedia: Image:Mirpur shivala temple 01.jpg. I can't tell, but it looks like the only difference is that you may have photoshopped out a support beam or something? You'd probably be better off cropping photos if necessary but otherwise running them as they are. I don't do a lot of work with images, but I suspect that generally they are regarded as more factually accurate that way. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:09, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Only administrators can delete images and articles. If you want the first image deleted, you can tag it {{db-g7}}, which indicates to an administrator that you wish thee image to be removed. Unless he or she thinks the image is useful, he will probably delete it as a courtesy to you. But I tend to think you ought to investigate to see if Wikipedia has a policy on modifying photographs for display. As an encyclopedia, factual accuracy is important here, and I do suspect that a picture with water buffalo might be regarded as better than a picture that used to have water buffalo but had them photoshopped out. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:18, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're not bothering me. Wikipedia can be very complicated. :) That's why I don't know what Wikipedia's policies are for modifying photos and suggested you look into it instead of just telling you if they're okay or not. I don't work with images, unless they pop up on my copyright reviews. I'd be interested in seeing that picture, though, just for my own curiosity, if you come across it again. I glanced at Wikipedia:Featured pictures/Places/Others, but I couldn't identify one that might have been the one you were talking about, although there is a really gorgeous London photo with a slow exposure, here. (Wow!) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:52, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

←I'm an administrator, but I do little with images, as I said, unless they come up with copyright concerns. I primarily use the admin tools to address articles that have been nominated for deletion and copyright concerns. You can see more about where I volunteer at my user page. I don't see any signs of photoshopping at that image. Out of curiosity, what makes you think it's been digitally altered? I'm not an image person (I don't even own a camera), but it looks like a straight photo to me. :) Probably the best place to look for assistance with that particular article is Wikipedia:WikiProject Pakistan. Looking at the project's talk page, it seems to be fairly active. Another option, if you just want somebody to help you learn the ropes of making changes yourself, is "adoption", where you get an experienced editor to help you learn the ropes. If you're interested in that, here's more about how to locate an adopter. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:33, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, P.S.: when you decide where to ask for help with that, please remember to sign your posts on talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This is really helpful to other editors communicating with you. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:36, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:AAP TV Logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AAP TV Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mirpur refs

[edit]

Hi Rajput! Thanks for finding those refs, I've tidied the titles up and regrettably had to replace the tag for the two with a blogspot as a reflink. Blog pages are not acceptable links for references, they need to be an official source such as a national media links or library referenced source. Richard Harvey (talk) 08:22, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I've just realised we are both editing at the same time. I'm doing the formatting to tidy the refs presentation up for the double column reflist to shorten the page length. If you are going to delete all the ones you can't get a suitable citation for its probably best to take them all out in one edit rather than individually. Also note the last ref you put in - Azad Kashmir website may get deleted by another editor as its not really a notable source for refs, but I will leave it alone. Speedy deletion of Juz 'D

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Juz 'D requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Notability of Dr Shabir Choudhry

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Dr Shabir Choudhry requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Finngall talk 00:12, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rajput! As the Tariq Mehmood article has been deleted (see above) I have de-redlinked his name in the Notable People from New Mirpur section of the article page and also replaced the reference you provided with a more notable one from the Guardian Newspaper, which is a review of one of his books by Mike Phillips's. Must say I'm surprised by the Speedy delete! Tariq Mehmood co-directed Injustice, a feature documentary dealing with deaths in police custody, which won the 2002 Black Film Maker Best Documentary Award. His first novel, Hand on the Sun, was published by Penguin and other books are available through Amazon and elswhere. Did you know you can see and read one of his illustrated childrens books online, via Google Book Search; See:- Half brother. Richard Harvey (talk) 09:55, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've finished, I saw the inclusion of the details in Mirpur, Pakistan and thought it was new info, so moved it into Rachyals. It is better left in the Rachyals article as it is relevant to them as opposed to Jats in particular. To move it out would cause a prevalence to move the other clans details as well. That would make those stubs too small and eventually lead to them being deleted altogether. Whereas there is a potential to enlarge the stubs with greater information.
