Do I remember rightly that you're working on a project to get at least one photo for each Pennsylvania municipality? And if so, do you have a checklist online that I could see? I ask because I'm in Pennsylvania until Monday (Homecoming weekend!) and I might try to get some illustrations for you if I know what you need. PR backlog

Could you reinstate Loud (Rihanna album) which has been closed without a review? It is worrying that the backlog seems to be stuck in the 30s. I am trying to do three or four articles each week; unfortunately, most of the oldest in the backlog are pop music-related, and I don't think I can review these adequately. Interview with Wikimedia Foundation

Hi Ruhrfisch, I hope this finds you well. My name is Matthew Roth and I'm a Storyteller working on the 2011 fundraiser with the Wikimedia Foundation in San Francisco. In past years, we've relied on Jimbo to carry the bulk of the fundraising weight and he's done very well helping us hit our yearly funding targets. This year, however, we're broadening the scope and reach of the fundraiser by incorporating more voices and different people on the funding banners and appeals that will start running full-time on November 7th. Fossil Beds

Yeah, that was a very odd result after all that work, careful preparation, and the brilliant reviews at PR. This painful experience coupled with the painful FLC last spring tell me it's time to give up featured nominations. Benefits include no further need to watch the FAC talk page. This morning she adds that her claim is based entirely on personal research, violating WP:NOR, and that she is not a reliable source as defined by WP:RS. Despite all, I choose to believe her, in keeping with WP:AGF. And, yes, I will continue to contribute but with course corrections. I'm mulling over what that might entail, perhaps something like a tag team in professional wrestling. Leaves turning yet?

Are the leaves turning color yet in your neck of the woods? I'm planning on visiting the very general area about the height of the leaf color season.

I've also made a proposal about a photo contest at WT:NRHP and a draft at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/Fall 2011 Photo Contest started. I'd love to see any comments about that page, just to make sure that it is easily understandable, and that the contest would be workable. I trust that you'd take a realistic view of this. Thanks for the encouragement on the Photo Contest. I'm looking for a long time member of WP:NRHP, who is a distinguished Wikipedian and is respected by all, to be a key sponsor/judge. In short we need somebody to sponsor a "Best photograph" challenge. It might read something like this "A barnstar will be awarded for the best photograph of an NRHP site. The "best" photograph will be beautiful and illustrate why the site is historically important. All photographers of NRHP sites are encouraged to submit one (and only one) photo below for this challenge. Judging will, of course, be completely subjective!"

Among other things, this challenge will give us a good idea of how many photographers participated in the contest.

Did I mention that I think you should be the judge? Please don't try to back out by saying that you are not a good photographer or similar balderdash. All you need to be is distinguished, long-time member, and most importantly respected by all. That makes you the best candidate by far.

I'm gonna butt in here. I haven't said it at the NRHP talk page but I would like to participate in something like this, though I doubt I'm going to win any contest for photos, mine are adequately passable, for the most part, but that's about it. I would be willing to help with set up, and I personally think that User:TonyTheTiger might be someone to consult on how to set it up. Him and I have butted heads in the past but he's a generally nice guy, helpful and good editor. Sodom Schoolhouse

I made it back safely despite some rain and not as much fall color as I'd hoped. I didn't get very many covered bridges (5?) and only about 15 sites in the area I thought I'd "concentrate in" - Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Union Counties. Trying to do to much, I suppose. I did get a few shots in Allentown and Wilkes-Barre (missed my turnoff), which have yet to be uploaded. Looking forward to the photo contest, even if these don't qualify. South Pole centenary

It's a long time since I have worked on an Antarctic article. But 14 December this year sees the centenary of Amundsen's arrival at the South Pole. With this date in mind I have been working with a couple of other editors to bring Amundsen's South Pole expedition up to featured standard, in the hope that we can nominate it for TFA on the key date. After much work, I have now nominated the article for peer review. In view of your experience in reviewing and indeed contributing to my earlier Antarctic expedition articles, I wonder if you would be prepared to review this one? The timescale is a little tight, bearing in mind that articles tend to stay at FAC longer than they used to, but I don't want to nominate it there until I am sure it meets the criteria. PR backlog organisation

Would it be possible (or, indeed, worthwhile) to present the backlog in two-tier format? Of the 18 articles presently in the backlog, four have "Doing" tags. My suggestion is that we divide the backlog between "Awaiting review" (14 at present) and "Review pending" or similar title (4). Secrets That I Never Want to Know

Thank you for your comments on "Secrets That I Never Want to Know". I'm in the process of making the adjustments you suggested. I did have one question regarding the tense in the Background sentence. My initial instinct was to write that information in past tense, but I was advised in the PR for another episode article to write the Background information in the present tense since it is fiction. I cannot seem to find a clear consensus or rule as to what tense this kind of information should be written in. I guess I'm asking which you think is more appropriate. Adirondack Park and the County Borders of New York State

I see that you edited the section I added on Mwanner's talk page by changing the map I put there to a different map. I do not appreciate you editing something that I wrote. I see that the new map contains both the counties and the Adirondack Park. It looks good. Please take a look at my Maps and Places section. The two maps at the top of this section are only temporary and will be deleted by me after you have responded to me at my talk page. Please view the two maps of New York, both with the Village of Speculator. The map on the left is the New York Adirondack Park map. The map on the right is the New York map with county borders. The new map showing the county borders and the Adirondack Park is not there because I do not know the pushpin map name. These maps are shown using the "pushpin map" system and the Template:Infobox settlement. In the infobox settlement, the maps are labelled 'New York Adirondack Park' and 'New York' respectively, in the pushpin map field. What is the name of the new map in the "||pushpin_map =?" field? Can you help?

I continue to find photos that should be placed in Wikimedia Commons from the en.Wikipedia. Without time, knowledge, and other reasons, I can't do it, but could you move the photo: John Bernard Riley to Commons, or maybe ask someone else who can? This is one of many situations where I keep finding tags to move pics, or just the photo ending itself, even if there are no restrictions whatsoever on them. And, also, I know nothing about sound clips on the Wikipedia, but there are two sound clips on Yvonne Elliman's page that need some tweaking-- you can see. Many thanks. What I meant about those music clips is that normally they are placed within the text, as with samples in Cat Stevens, for example, or in the album or song articles. But with the ones with Elliman, they appear on a blank page. Maybe they can be fixed? It's not a top priority, so..  ?

PR problem

I saw the recent overfill issue, but then spotted that you edited the VeblenBot page: that's not really a solution (VeblenBot will overwrite your edit), but it drew attention to the actual problem: a category addition, which I believe has now been fixed. I think the problem was that the version of the PR page shown to logged-out users was stuck in the cache, and had the larger size, while the version shown to logged-in users was smaller. I looked at the size using my account and it was about 1m bytes, but then I ran the script and the version it got as a non-logged-in user was 2m bytes. I purged the PR page, and then the bot started seeing the correct size. There is a gadget that you can enable in your preferences that gives you a link to purge the current page, which makes it a lot easier to do than editing a URL by hand. — Carl (CBM · talk) 13:01, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Don't be so dramatic, first of all Anglo-Irish vs Irish is a pretty lame thing to cause so much fuss. Second, this was not about protecting him or you, it's about preventing disruption, an Admin blocking a user who they are in an edit war with is just as disruptive as an edit war itself. I refute that accusation of being a POV pusher, I was only editing in line with the IMOS (which was being ignored by you and other editors), I made those edits in good faith. Anglo-Irish simply does not belong in the lede, it is a term for a social class that existed within Ireland, nothing more and nothing less, any historian/sociologist that knows their weight in Irish history will explain that to you.
