As you have signed up for the WikiCup and you announced a retirement from Wikipedia. I'll remove your name and I'd take your represented flag (). If you want to make a comeback, please contact me and change your flag back. Thanks. RaymondGiggs18:04, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to see you go Spittle. Hope you'll come back again some day. Anyway, good luck with everything you do in your real life. ≈ Chamaltalk14:49, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Right, last newsletter before the next round and it's a congratulations to eight of you lot. Unfortunately we say goodbye to a fair few users along the way but that is the competition. Next round, there will only be one pool which will see the lowest scoring users eliminated two months into the round. Should be good fun! Get your nominations in soon!

From the Judges
Apologies for not getting a newsletter out before this, but all of the judges happened to be away at the same time. Very impressive start of the round. Only sixteen days in, and our top four are already completely above 200 points. By the way, this is light red, not pink! :P

I can't image any way that something you nominate even as early as today will pass before Wednesday. If anything you've already nominated passes between now and Wednesday, or you still have things you haven't added to your submission pages, now is the time to do it! This half of the round ends this Wednesday (September 30) at 23:59 (UTC), and the bottom four contestants will be eliminated. The top four will keep their score from the first half, and continue competing through October 31. Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone! We're very sorry we didn't get this one out anytime sooner. We've all been pretty busy IRL. But down to business: Since the last newsletter, the first half of the round has ended. We said goodbye to Candlewicke, Juliancolton, and Mitchazenia. We'd like to thank them for all of their hard work getting this far. Shoemaker's Holiday has also withdrawn, so we'd like to thank him for his hard work too. Congratulations to Durova, Ottava Rima, Sasata, and Theleftorium for making the top 4! Good luck to you all.
You also may have seen from the WikiCup talk page that we have a new judge! J Milburn is joining our judging team effective immediately. J was assigned after Garden and Thehelpfulone announced they would be highly inactive throughout the remainder of the WikiCup. It is likely you will see J return as a judge next year as well.
Good luck again to the remaining four contestants! 20 days left in the Round, so make sure you get all your content nominated soon! You've all worked hard for this, since the beginning of January. I'm sure you're all tired by now, but you've come too far to just give up now. Congratulations Top 4!

It just came to me that multiple users have worked together on a bunch of content items, which means the newsletter counts are likely off. I'll try to put that all together and figure it out by the end of the round.
The end of the round, and the end of the 2009 WikiCup is this coming Saturday, October 31! To our top four: don't give up yet. Make sure that anything you have left to nominate is nominated today or tomorrow, for the slighted chance of it passing in time. The last day items will be accepted is Saturday, at 23:59 (UTC). It ain't over till the fat lady sings, of course!

Well, it was a long, long ride, with plenty of ups as well as downs (but I'm sure you'll agree, definitely more ups). It's been ten long months since our kick-off in January, and the level of competition has intensified so much so quickly. It's a wonder there was any puff left in our final eight by the end, but they fought to the death and, eventually, Durova pulled through, making her proficiency with FPs count as the contest drew to a close. Special mentions must go to the other members of the last four, Ottava Rima, Sasata and Theleftorium, all of whom put in a astonishing shift in their efforts to peel Durova away from her victory. Congratulations again!
The announcement of the ed17 as the newest judge to the WikiCup panel was made today - I wish him all the best in his new role.

This WikiCup Award is presented to Spittlespat for their participation in the 2009 WikiCup. Your contributions along the way have greatly improved the quality of many articles, pictures, and sounds on the English Wikipedia.

To ensure that everyone who signed up is still committed to participating in the 2010 WikiCup, it is required that you remove your name from this list! By removing your name, you are not removing yourself from the WikiCup. This is simply a way for the judges to take note of who has not yet reconfirmed their participation. If you have not removed your name from that list by December 30th, 2009 (by 23:59 (UTC)) then your name will be removed from the WikiCup.
It's worth noting the rules have changed, likely after you signed up. The changes made thus far are:
Mainspace and/or portal edits will not be awarded points at all.
Did you know? articles (which were worth 5 points last year) will now be worth 10 points.
Good articles (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
Valued pictures will be now awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
Featured lists (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
Featured portals (which were worth 25 points last year) will now be worth 35 points.
Featured articles (which were worth 50 points last year) will now be worth 100 points.
Featured topics (which were worth 10 points per article last year) will now be worth 15 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
Good topics (which were worth 5 points per article last year) will now be worth 10 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
In the news will still be awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
If you have any final concerns about the WikiCup's rules and regulations, please ask them now, before the Cup begins to avoid last minute problems. You may come to the WikiCup's talk page, or any of the judge's user talk pages. We're looking forwards to a great 2010 WikiCup! Before I even begin to talk about adopting you, I want to point out that I don't mean in any way to make you feel inexperienced or not good enough. I also want to point out that I'm fully aware that you've been through the adoption process before, by several people. I'm also aware that I haven't been able to keep up with my past adoptees and have failed on the whole to keep in touch with them. But I'll try to make time to coach you. And, of course, I know that you've been here for over a year and aren't really a new editor anymore. You've made quite a few useful contributions and are on the way to becoming a stellar Wikipedian; you've got the spirit of it, and your intentions are very true - it's quite obvious. To me, at least.
But some of your work is still not as orderly as it should be (unknowingly removing templates, warning without a template, and several others from past edits). You've probably learned from experience about what to do and not to do on WP, but there are still a few things left I'd like you to learn about. I'm telling you this because it's obvious you want to learn more, but it seems that you rarely get the advice you want. You are sent warnings, explanations are curt at best, and most editors, whether they'd like to admit it or not, still see you as a struggling new editor. So many focus on your MySpace (or Facebook, whichever) issues that very few stop to realize that you've got tons of potential, which will show more in time.
So then. :) I'd like to adopt you, Spittlespat. Though xeno and a few others have in the past, I want to coach you through something more in-depth but less like a core tutorial. I'm more than certain you know the basics. Of course you do! Now, I think it's time for something different.
On a separate chord (perhaps a minor-major), sorry if this message seems only half-awake. The truth is, I am only half-awake. It's quite late tonight and I can't sleep. Boo hoo. I might have written some things I'll wish I hadn't, but for now, it feels right.
Hi Spittlespat! This is the last message that will go out to remind you that in order to participate in the 2010 WikiCup, you MUST remove your name from this list! Again, the reason for this reconfirmation is to ensure you've looked over the updated point values (which were different at the time you signed up) and to ensure that you are still interested in competing! If you don't have time to participate or no longer wish to, ignore this message and leave your name on the list. All names on the list will be removed from the contestants list before the Cup starts. Cheers! iMatthewtalk at 14:29, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Spittlespat! I'd like to invite you to join the proposed Trackers Task Force. If you are interested in Patrick Carman's series The Trackers, you are perfect for this proposed WikiProject!!!! Just add your name to the support list to join! The task force is under construction, so maybe you can help. We need 3 more supporters before September 21 or else the proposed task force will go into the Archives. Goodbye!!! Hidividedby5 (talk) 12:57, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
