Notice

The article Antonio Hodgers has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hello, thanks for the notification, though I find the practice a bit aggressive (the fact that the translation tool is broken and had me copy/paste my work did not help). You can see there are hyperlinks to other wikis (German and French) so that should address the question of references, but I'll continue the translation and add some directly in the text. Have a nice day, Superboilles.

I didn't want to put this on the talk page since it's more of a general thing and not article specific enough to put on there. I'm not 100% sure of the COI situation here. They have been almost solely focused on this one person, but that's not entirely unusual since it is common for someone to create initial edits solely around a specific person or narrow topic area. Their user page does have info about Pain on it, but it's also somewhat written like the start of an article. They have also stated that they're not Pain herself. On the other hand, I do get some COI vibes here but I'm not sure of what type.

It could be that they were asked to create a page on her (paid or volunteer work), but it could also be that they're just a student who wants to write an article about a professor they admire. I can definitely understand that drive, since I have a couple of professors I'd absolutely love to make an article for. One in specific just falls a bit short of the NPROF guidelines (at least the last time I checked). Basically, the only thing we can do in this situation is make sure the article is neutral and try to help the editor understand NPROF and general editing guidelines on Wikipedia. If they make any bad faith edits (blatant promotional edits, willful misunderstanding of guidelines, and so on) then that can be addressed. The article could be written somewhat more neutrally but it's not bad - it comes across more as someone who was trying but isn't used to Wikipedia's writing style.

I'm honestly kind of getting student editor vibes for the most part. My personal theory is that it's either a situation where they were writing about a professor they really like or they're part of a class where the assignment is editing Wikipedia. The assignment one is actually pretty common, if you were wondering about that - we have a LOT of professors who do this. There's no organization on here set up specifically for the UK like Wiki Ed, so a lot of professors tend to come in flying blind. [edit]

On a side note, I'll keep you in mind for any French specific articles that need work! I sometimes come across article topics where the coverage is predominantly in other languages, so I'll definitely try to remember to reach out. My focus is usually film and literature related, especially horror, fantasy, and sci-fi genres. I try to help in whatever areas I feel comfortable enough in, though. On a somewhat related note, I'm trying to clean up the article on Werewolves in popular culture and there are definitely some items on the list that are French works. I'm not sure how the AfD will end on that - I'm pushing for it to remain its own list/page since it's not uncommon for there to be lists of this type that are a spinoff of other topic areas. At this point I'm just trying to prune anything that doesn't have an entry for the work or author/creator. I do try to make a good faith search for coverage to see if it could pass notability guidelines - if it has enough sourcing to where it could pass GNG then I leave it on the list. The next few pass overs (if it survives) I'll try to clean it up and add more order to the chaos, such as context and so on. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 20:49, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sure thing! I have been editing very irregularly so far (spare time is a rare and precious thing), but I'll be happy to help if I can. Superboilles (talk) 20:53, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey thanks for the notification. I think the correct template to add would be {{translated page}} (which I have now added). Superboilles (talk) 20:48, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And I want to thank you for the work you’re doing. The standard notice I provided above is a bit cold, but provides needed info going forward, since it looks like you’re going to be doing more of this. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 20:51, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Migros, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Le Nouvelliste. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

November Articles for creation backlog drive

[edit]

Hello Superboilles:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 1100 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:25, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the Spanish translations

[edit]

I’ve been creating articles for some Basque peace groups, etc. and came across the Txapote slogan article you created. I think translating articles from other Wikipedias is one of the more useful things people can do here so thanks. Prezbo (talk) 17:02, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey thanks a lot! It was (still is) an interesting story, glad I came across it. If you have anything else you want to flag for translation into English or French, let me know. Superboilles (talk) 10:26, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have been trying to translate some of the articles about victims of the Peruvian internal conflict, stored in https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor%C3%ADa:V%C3%ADctimas_de_Sendero_Luminoso and https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor%C3%ADa:Conflicto_armado_interno_de_Per%C3%BA. I think it's useful just to have stubs with links to the Spanish articles. In general I think Wikipedia's coverage of political violence could stand to be more victim-centered. Anyway that's something you could work on if it grabs you, but of course it's entirely up to you. Prezbo (talk) 14:01, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok will look into it. I have a couple other themes I want to get to first but I'll keep your message here for reference. Superboilles (talk) 09:42, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Superboilles. Thank you for your work on Charter of Paris against Cancer. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thank you for the clear and helpful translation from French; no concerns from me. I would have stuck with your original page titie, but it seems that another editor thinks differently.

Decline in Massimo Filippini Draft

[edit]

Dear Superboilles, Thank you for your comments on the draft of Draft:Massimo_Filippini. Your comments state that there are not enough external sources, however, I do feel like there are a lot. Indeed, there are sources from the national Swiss radio (in French, German, and Italian), associations, and initiatives citing his great work as an economist. I would like to seek your help on this matter. Thank you in advance. Best, Lea Leaschlatter (talk) 12:31, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

IKEA Foundation requests

[edit]

Hi Superboilles, I was curious if you had any thoughts on the last requests I made of the IKEA Foundation article? I really appreciate all your help so far. Cheers AMfromIKEA (talk) 08:12, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Review requested

[edit]

Hello, you were kind enough to review the daft I had submitted a while back on zyn. I made an edit request yesterday that ended up being declined (I worked from an earlier version than the one currently online and the editor did not accept my claim that the error was in good faith - to be honest this mistake happened to be on the worst possible section). I am not sure if the editor did not understand or did not read my reply, or if I missed something else entirely, but I would appreciate a third-party to have a look and chime in. Thank you very much, Aphis Marta (talk) 09:35, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The post above is a blatant violation of the policy on canvassing, see WP:CANVASS. i.e. Canvassing refers to notification done with the intention of influencing the outcome of a discussion in a particular way, and is considered inappropriate. Axad12 (talk) 08:55, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Axad12. I hear your concern and appreciate your taking things to heart. This being said, I have that article in my watchlist and was intent on intervening anyway when I saw your initial reply, so it would be nice if you could grant me some agency :-)
As far as canvassing goes, the notification (which is allowed) was short and neutral, and did not add anything that wasn't already on the article's talk page. They asked for a third party opinion (as opposite to "hey, help me out here"), which I accepted to give (agency, again).
The rest of the conversation I will take to the talk page. Best regards, Superboilles (talk) 19:45, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming of “Ami — go home!”

[edit]

So I’ve seen comment you added to my draft, and I request you to come up with a new title. I’m stuck between “German Anti-Americanism” and “Anti-Americanism in the Eastern Block” (or something like those two). What do you think? Username367 (talk) 01:00, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, the generic typology for this kind of articles seems to be along the lines of X in Y, so I would go for Anti-americanism in Germany (or West Germany? Occupied Germany? The entry has a lot of 60-80's tropes and this seems the more solidly documented part).
The other thing I've noted is that the In films section needs references: the first ref is ok, but the second one (Monthy Python) is about the actual Yankee go home, and the third one I skimmed through the movie and could not see any sign near Do-Lung bridge FWIW.
