Anybody out there? --TheLastWordSword (talk) 13:07, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Maple syrup event requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. E. Fokker (talk) 00:59, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re your msg on my wall

[edit]

Thank you for the erudite post; Wikipedia tries to keep vandalism from anonymous sources in check by banning problem IP addresses/address blocks; if those addresses/blocks belong to an organization (like your library in NY), then, yes, innocent people get banned. There are no "moral" questions with the ban; we're just trying to keep yahoos from cluttering up the place. You've probably noticed that creating an account gets around the IP ban; now that you've got an account, enjoy, and if anyone else at your organization has been "morally harmed" by a ban, suggest that they get an account as well. --rubicon | talk 19:14, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and I chuckled heartily at your demand to "CEASE AND DESIST WITH ANY PLANS TO BLOCK THIS IP" - why would you think that anyone responsible for deciding whether or not to ban your org's IP address would listen to any such demand? We're a community here; you get much further with friendliness here than bile. --rubicon | talk 19:19, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just like in Libya and Egypt ;) -- TheLastWordSword (talk) 00:36, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You brainless elitist cunt. Work on teaching new people Wiki-coding without having to kiss your ass for years on end, and you might get farther. 74.41.81.126 (talk) 23:51, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How big is this headline?

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 22:31, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Batz's law has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Uncited, no evidence of notability - probably Original research

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I hereby formally request permission to call other people by nasty names on my User Page. Thank you for your time and considerate offer. Have a RTA day!
