Please stop trying to use wikipedia for self-promotion. Wikipedia is not a soapbox for things like advertising and self-promotion. Kevin_b_er 19:01, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. --Kevin_b_er 19:03, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Thank you all for your comments and feedback. I better understand now how wiki works. Thanks and have a great week! - Tom
More on noted past residents of Lawrence, Michigan
[edit]Hi - I see you and another user are having a disagreement about this section of Lawrence, Michigan. The fundamental policies of Wikipedia are WP:NPOV and WP:V, which say that wikipedia content must be written from a neutral point of view and must be verifiable. Writing about oneself, either an entire article or facts added to articles (which I suspect is what you're doing here) is generally discouraged (please see Wikipedia:Autobiography) because when doing so it is extremely difficult to avoid violating these fundamental policies. Another issue with your edit in this case is that it lacks source information, see Wikipedia:Citing sources. As mentioned above, you also need to make sure you don't violate Wikipedia:Three-revert rule. In general if you make an edit and another editor undoes that edit for whatever reason, please don't just make the same edit again. The policy is that if you do this more than 3 times in 24 hours you can be blocked from editing. You are encouraged to work things out on talk pages - either on the talk page of the article or directly on the talk page of the other editor.
I hope it doesn't feel like you're being ganged up on. Your contributions really are quite welcome. If you'd like to talk about this article or anything else, please let me know (on my talk page). -- Rick Block (talk) 19:33, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
People, even famous ones, usually don't belong in articles on the places they live in. Including people in city articles is too detailed. If someone is truly notable, it's better to write an article about them while providing reliable third party sources (someone else than the person themselves) especially for claims of selling millions of books). Unfortunately, there are people who like to include nonsense here, so we can't trust something you say is true just because you say it is. We need evidence. Also note WP:BIO (which includes guidelines people must meet for inclusion) and Wikipedia:Autobiography (about why writing about yourself or family is discouraged). Posting little content, like a list of names, with multiple external links is considered spamming. - Mgm|(talk) 10:12, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
