Second opinion
Hey Xiner. How's everything? I was wondering if you might give me your opinion on the correct action for the following situation (if you have experience in the area). I closed this afd on three fictional characters from a RPG as "merge all", and performed the merge here. Soon thereafter the creator of the three merged stubs reverted the redirects so I protected them. Now he is asking me to uprotect them apparently so they can be expanded. This presents problems.
The way I see it, if an article is deleted through afd, it can be freely reposted and is only subject to deletion as a repost under CSD G4 if it is substantially the same material and does not address the reasons for deletion. Here, though the article has not been deleted, the reversion presents an analogous situation because it wasn't an expansion; the user simply reverted back to the prior content that there was consensus to merge. But reading between the lines of his post, I see his point (though I have little confidence he will follow through I must AGF). By protecting the redirects, I have essentially foreclosed the ability to turn these into proper, expanded articles that address the afd concerns (if that's possible). On the other hand, unless they're immediately expanded in a manner addressing the afd concerns, they will sit there in contravention of the afd and I will be on the slippery slope of being the arbiter of choosing some probationary time period before protecting again. Any thoughts?--Fuhghettaboutit 15:03, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Re: Belated congrats
Thanks. I try to help out where I can and have mostly been dealing with speedy and proposed deletions and XfD. I will start doing other things as time progresses, but I also want to be able to continue article-writing. There are a few articles whose expansion or creation I've been postponing and I hope to get to those soon. Anyway, thanks again for your message. Cheers, Black Falcon (Talk) 20:59, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

- well it is very tough, because lots of cops in civil clothes go around the stands and take pics of supporters releasing flares and doing anything against our very funny fans law made by our lame government, so it is forbidden by Torcida to take any pics during the game, which is good. however, nobody has anything against half-time pics, so will report back with few of them. going to play CoD2 for a few hours. come by to irc sometimes. goddamn, i can talk so much :-) West Brom 4ever

My RFA
Hi Xiner, just a quick note to say thanks for participating in my request for adminship. It was successful and I now have some shiny new buttons. If I can ever be of help, please let me know. Happy editing, mattbr 10:28, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Long overdue greetings
Hey Xiner!
Thanks for the message! I have been meaning to write for awhile, but I barely log on these days. I hope your life circumstances have changed in a positive way. I am much busier than I used to be, and therefore have little time to devote to Wikipedia. I still keep tabs on a few articles that I invested time in -- I even achieved GA status for one of them.
I really appreciate all of your help and support. You have been a great adopter!
Take care,
Vivian

RfA question
I don't suppose I could persuade you that this is not an appropriate or relevant RfA question? --Spike Wilbury ♫ talk 22:24, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- I see your point. Thanks for the response. --Spike Wilbury ♫ talk 01:09, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- It's still not appropriate. I've deleted it and refactored the numbering to avoid prejudicing the debate. Probably you can find another way to ask it. DGG (talk) 01:32, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- I respect your work and neutrality very highly indeed, and so I would have expected you to understand that is is never acceptable to ask someone about his political religious or sexual orientation or views in WP. One may declare them if one wishes, and many people do. I think such a question will lead to unpleasantness. If you wish to restore it do, feel free to do so, but i think you might want to perhaps at least word it as an optional request--"It might clarify things if you wish to start your own opinions on the subject, but of course we will not hold it against you if you choose to ignore this question" (Personally, I think his answer to your other question is sufficient--but that is up to you-- I will not challenge you about it.)DGG (talk) 20:42, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

The now-traditional RFA thank-spam
Dear Xiner,
Thank you for your participation in my RFA, which closed successfully with 83 supports, 1 oppose, and 0 neutrals. No matter if you voted (I mean, "!voted") support or oppose, I thank you for taking the time to drop by. I'm new, remember, so if you have any suggestions feel free to inform me of them, and if I do anything wrong, feel free to add to the permanent chorus of disapproval on my talk page. Special thanks to WaltonOne and Dihydrogen Monoxide for nominating me.

Admin Tools Template
Xiner, here's my dumb question of the day: How do I add the admin tools from the {{administrator}} template without adding the administrators category? I don't want to look like I claiming to be an admin. - WilsonjrWikipedia (talk) 02:55, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Pro Life Pro Abortion User Box
Hi. I added User:Xiner/Userboxes/Pro-Life Pro-Abortion to my user look awhile back. I just noticed today that it has changed though. I looked at its history and it looks like another use came in and changed the template. Was that something done with your permission? The changes don't really reflect the same message, to me, as it did before. Collectonian 20:47, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Opinion on possible (probable?) vandalism
For the article on Ethyl_4-aminobenzoate, the history looks vandalised--but it's been a while with some edits in the meantime. It doesn't seem like it belongs there to me. What do you think? I'd like someone else's opinion before editing the article.--H-ko (Talk) 04:10, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Need Help! with Ringo
Hi Xiner,
Long time, no write. But I'm having a technical problem with an article and I just can't figure it out. It's the article "Ringo Starr". I was a bit pissed off about its poor organization again (I had cleaned it up somewhat in July) and I started to edit it, when I realized only about half of the problem was poor article organization.
The other half appears to be a technical glitch of some sort.
Take a look at the section "Possibility of knighthood". The last paragraph (currently something about awards) appears to have nothing whatsoever to do with the topic. But if you go into edit mode, you will see that awards are technically in their own section, "Awards and Recognition." It's just that the section heading and parts of the section itself just... well, disappear. I tried editing there, and it seems as if whatever is placed immediately behind "Knighthood" just gets sort of swallowed. Not only the text itself, which doesn't appear, but headings are not recognized and therefore also do not appear in the contents.
Thus I cannot get the article to appear correctly and completely on screen, and I've tried this now on three different computers.
What am I -- and all of us Ringo editors -- missing here? What's happening? Can you help?

Xiner - Long time no talk! Question - I tried creating an article about a book recently, and it was quickly deleted. What is the difference between this article and one's like Everything is Miscellaneous? - WilsonjrWikipedia (talk) 00:52, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of User talk:83.233.30.215
Please do not make personal attacks. Wikipedia has a strict policy against personal attacks. Attack pages and images are not tolerated by Wikipedia and are speedily deleted. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:User talk:83.233.30.215|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Question about User:sjn-0
Hello. My understanding is that the Babel -0 level language categories exist for when someone wishes to designate that though they might be expected to know a language, they don't know quite enough to get by. It seems you deleted sjn-0, and I'd really like to know why, as I would like to apply it to my user page before I do edits on Tolkein-related material (it's coming up errors because the sjn-0 template doesn't exist.) I would have just recreated it, but I figured it best to talk to you first. As far as I can see there would be some benefit to its existence, and no downside. Any light you can shed on this is much appreciated. Thanks! -Moritheil (talk) 05:52, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations
Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with some local Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal of those sessions was to gather feedback to help design an embedded application that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)
Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.
Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.
Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 01:06, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Request
My name is Sorin Cerin, romanian writer. From a while I am a subject to unspeakable abuse by some Wikipedians. All this brought me immense moral, professional and political injury. I hope to be reinstated. Please help me to remove ban on wikipedia.
Thank You Sorin Cerin
Some of abuses from press agencies: Sorin Cerin is censored without any scruples on Wikipedia so called the free encyclopedia. After three years the Romanian article about Sorin Cerin have been deleted. First of all his article in English was deleted for notability reasons, at some Romanian users' request. The same article was reinstated shortly by a group of American stating that the writer would have certain notability due to his publications in the national press.[1] The same group of Romanian users insistently require to delete the article again, lying, because newspapers as Ziua (The Day), Romania Libera (Free Romania), Cronica Romana (Romanian Chronicles)or others wouldn't be be national daily newspapers but just unimportant newspapers. The same scenario was also played in case of the article from Romanian Wikipedia.Tha lake of notability was invoked, specifying that:"Practically there is no independent, serious material which proves his notability, his literary work is ignored by specialists.", although his publications in the press were more than relevant. The one who insistently requested the article to be wiped is Bogdan Stancescu, by his user name Gutza. Sorin Cerin wrote a series of articles intitled:The Wikipedia Scandal,in which he describes certain disorders of this encyclopedia.Certain users bring relevant data concerning the critics for the writer's literary works from authorities of contemporary literature critique, such Ion Dodu Balan which places him next to the highest peaks of the sapiential literature worldwide, mentioning Homer or Arthur Schopenhauer. All these critics appeared in imposing magazines of our national, but also international cultural spectrum.Several users require to reinstate the article. Some other users address insulting words to the writer, one of them asks that the reinstatement shouldn't be put in discussion.A certain Andrei Stroe decides to mantain the article deleted because :"It's a longtime since the discussion is no more to the point. The page will remain deleted"Hallucinating reason which seems unreal, but it's happening at the Romanian Wikipedia.Hasn't the discussion keept close to the subject until that time?Having brought concrete data the writer's notability by some users didn't mean that the discussion was keeping close to the subject?A well-known news agency from Cluj Napoca, entitled Napoca News published the article with the title: Wikipedia from Romania, stuck in censorship and incompetence,http://www.napocanews.ro/2009/06/wikipedia-romana-impotmolita-in-cenzura-si-incompetenta.html signed by George Bara, where the incompetence of this encyclopedia is mentioned, which removed Sorin Cerin about whom an authority as the critic Ion Dodu Balan wrote more than elogiously.Ion Dodu Balan is one of the most important romanian critic. Many others critics wrote about Cerin as a Adrian Dinu Rachieru and Ion Pachia Tatomirescu.Other hallucinating speeches appear also with other users such as Adi Japan, physicist as profession, without studies in the literary field who affords to state about an authority as Ion Dodu Balan:"Now a question is imposed whether Ion Dodu Balan can speak on behalf of the literary critics. The writer is threatened with the final interdiction on the free encyclopedia Wikipedia by this AdiJapan. Finally, he decides to exile alone, stating that:"I just wanted to know if you are a serious and objective encyclopedia. Now, that I am clarified what it actually is, I'm telling you with an inherent feeling of nausea that I don't need any right from your side to be allowed to have access on Wikipedia since I don't want to have such an access from now on, ever. The fact that I was forbidden on Wikipedia is for me a reason to be proud.Who is interested to study about me will be free to do it on some other encyclopedias." ” Romanian wikipedians user Alex F asked on 12 June 2009 excluding Sorin Cerin. Romanian user AdiJapan concludes on 15 June 2009:” It seems that neither Mr. Sorin Cerin has nothing against the ban and the fact that access to Romanian Wikipedia causes him nausea. He says he is a pride for him to be denied access. So it is ... Consensus, at least now, is to implement the ban. " On 24 June 2009 the same user AdiJapan decide:” Conclusion. I think enough time has passed and who had some object could do so. We conclude the discussion:To Sorin Cerin take up for an unlimited period, the right to participate in Wikipedia, in the discussions, articles and any other pages, or any other subject.. Any user may cancel immediately any change which can be attributed clearly Sorin Cerin's.Sorin Cerin is prohibited without a time limit on the Wikipedia free encyclopedia.Recently occurred in the most important and prestigious publishing house in Romania:Eminescu Publishing House. Here it is the whole sapiential work.[2] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sorin Cerin (talk • contribs) 10:37, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
