Function details: This bot will edit User:Revi/counter (my doppleganger's subpage) page and put the value toward specific date for use on userbox. (think of D-Day counter)

You don't need a bot to update a countdown - you can do that with mw:ParserFunctions.

For example:

{{#expr:({{#time: xNU|2015-11-12}} - {{#time: xNU}}) / 86400 round 0}} will give you -3122

You can fiddle with the round function's parameter if you want fractional parts of days, etc:
