The result of the discussion was: Keep. Follow on comment. As I was closing this I noticed that the contents here are not the city articles, but rather the city categories. Someone probably needs to go through this and include the city articles and remove the city categories. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:22, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Unneeded Category. Somewhat duplicate entries within parent Category:Populated places in the New York metropolitan area, which is only a container. Tinton5 (talk) 22:23, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Keep/withdrawn. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:19, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Target is only member of this cat. Unnecessary level of categorization. JFH (talk) 14:42, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support "Old Catholic" etc do not have many articles about organisation so there is, at present, no need to include them here. Laurel Lodged (talk) 17:21, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Should it not be reverse merge? I thought we had agreed that it was the "Catholic Church". WE certainly do not need both. Peterkingiron (talk) 19:16, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep both Read the contents. There are other Catholic Churches than just the Roman Catholic Church Hmains (talk) 06:10, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Guided missiles by operator[edit]

The result of the discussion was: Delete. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:16, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Note: Bundeswehr and SAN cats are also in this tree, but are already at CSD as empty. Note: A Norwegian category was recently deleted.
Nominator's rationale: Some missiles have been operated by dozens of countries (e.g. see Sidewinder missile#Operators) so for missiles usage by a particular organization is not a WP:DEFINING characteristic. That there isn't an "Objects by operator" category for Category:Guided missiles by operator to fit under is an indication that this isn't the way we normally categorize articles about mass-produced objects. Upmerge List of missiles of the RAF to Category:Royal Air Force. DexDor (talk) 05:25, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge/Delete We do not need to split these (1) between the armed forces of one country or (2) by country, where they are used by multiple countries: US/UK/Canada/ etc will commonly use the same missiles; China probably largely has its own; as does USSR/Russia. WWII German missiles might be a valid category. I would accordinly suggest one category for NATO, one for Russia (to include USSR) and one for China (not three for PLA). Since a missile can either have a conventional or nuclear warhead, that is not a valid split. Peterkingiron (talk) 19:27, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
A "Guided missiles operated by Russia/USSR" category (which I think is an example of what you're suggesting) would be almost an exact duplicate of Category:Guided missiles of Russia+Category:Guided missiles of the Soviet Union (which contain hundreds of articles). That is not good as it wouldn't be very useful and it's likely (IMO) that many articles would be placed in one or the other category when they should be in both. DexDor (talk) 21:31, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Listify all users these should only be categorized by country of origin. (if it was a TV category, it would be performer by performance, the actor being the missile, and the performance being the military inventory)-- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 04:11, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
