[edit]Category:Fictional indigenous peoples in the United States
[edit]- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 10:14, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: This misbegotten category serves no purpose: The sole subcategory is for fictional Native American individuals - NOT for fictional peoples. I was about to remove it, but left it purely for this CFD discussion. (I DID already remove the only other content, which was the article List of fictional Native Americans - again, a listing entirely of individuals.) Anomalous+0 (talk) 00:00, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
- Note: I have already restored the necessary parent cats, which had been removed by the creator of this category. Anomalous+0 (talk) 00:07, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
- Delete assuming this category can't be populated with fictional peoples. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:00, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
- I actually spent a good deal of time looking for such articles and could not find any. Anomalous+0 (talk) 11:42, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
- Delete peoples is used for ethnic groups and tribes, not individuals. Dimadick (talk) 14:07, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
- Delete in theory there may be some fictional groups, but we at present lack article on them.John Pack Lambert (talk) 20:16, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Category:The Five Boroughs

- The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 10:15, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: As per WP:SMALLCAT: no potential for growth, not part of a defined category structure. Main article Five Boroughs of the Danelaw links the boroughs adequately. Jellyman (talk) 21:10, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
- Delete per above. If kept change the name to match the article. Even here in a Commonwealth country I instantly thought this related to New York. Grutness...wha? 01:46, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
- Rename to match main article as Category:Five Boroughs of the Danelaw. This was a polity, close to being (if not actually) an independent state for a period in the 9th century. I agree the present name is obscure. I agree there is little scope for expansion, but six articles is enough to keep a category. Peterkingiron (talk) 14:27, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
- Support, also per WP:NONDEF. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:44, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
