Nominator's rationale: Too ambiguous as a base for a category. Anchor article says: "A discovery system may be an artificial intelligence system (in the context of computer science, logic, and mathematics) or a bibliographical search system (in the context of library and information science)." Only 2 articles apart from the eponymous one. Rathfelder (talk) 20:38, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename. MER-C 10:10, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: To match NAACP, most common name, and subcategories (e.g. Category:NAACP Image Awards) TM 14:44, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy rename per WP:C2D. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:02, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy rename per nom and Marcocapelle. Place Clichy (talk) 04:28, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose -- The abbreviation will be obvious to many Americans, but not necessarily to the rest of the world (and I as an Englishman would have to think hard to decode it). However I would have no objection to having both, one as a cat-redirect to the other, with NAACP having a headnote with the abbreviation. We normally discourage abbreviations in category names. Category:Wikipedia categories named after districts of London[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. MER-C 10:07, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Rename to avoid ambiguity with local government districts and for consistency with List of areas of London and Category:Areas of London. The category currently also contains the London boroughs themselves (such as Category:London Borough of Newham) but boroughs are quite different to the settlements, for example West Ham is a settlement in the London Borough of Newham and combining these 2 substantially different things in 1 category seems inappropriate per WP:NOTDIC. I therefore suggest moving the borough categories back to Category:Wikipedia categories named after districts of England, alternatively a Category:Wikipedia categories named after London boroughs could be created but I don't think we would need it. Note that some London boroughs are named after the settlements and the settlement doesn't have a separate category (such as Category:London Borough of Harrow) but its likely that in time there will be separate categories and unlike Category:Bromsgrove there is no indication of the category being for both anyway in addition to the fact it would need to be at Category:Harrow, London then. I would also support renaming Category:Districts of England to something like Category:Local government districts of England but that's outside of this discussion. Crouch, Swale (talk) 10:23, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename. It looks to me as if splitting to London boroughs would also be useful, as a proper subcat of (local gov) districts. – Fayenatic London 22:06, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Literary techniques[edit]

The result of the discussion was: merge. MER-C 10:11, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Merge Category:Literary techniques into Category:Narrative techniques.
They are the same thing.
They have the same parent article, List of narrative techniques.
The former parent article was moved to the later (Talk:List of narrative techniques#Requested move 23 May 2015).
The content of one could equally be the content of the other.
The categorization of Category:Literary techniques corresponds well-enough to the target. SmokeyJoe (talk) 01:40, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - too much overlap, and a discussion which led to the merger of topic articles is a good indicator. Place Clichy (talk) 04:28, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
