- Propose merging and redirecting Category:Prunella (bird) to Category:Prunellidae
- Nominator's rationale: Duplicate scope. Both Prunella (bird) and Prunellidae redirect to Accentor, so perhaps the target should also be renamed. – Fayenatic London 21:22, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Note, for my reference: Wikidata items https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q20737871 and https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q9031481 would require follow-up to merge. – Fayenatic London 21:24, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Merge as duplicate. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:17, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Category:Former buildings and structures in St. Louis

- The result of the discussion was: keep. bibliomaniac15 02:51, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: I think I may have downmerged everything in this category to Demolished buildings and structures in St. Louis, now I'm noticing there's nothing left here except for a link to that category. I've tagged "Demolished" with the History of St. Louis category to make this completely redundant. It can always be recreated if needed. - Delete. Straightforward housekeeping, by the look of it. Deb (talk) 08:15, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Keep. Part of an overall scheme for former buildings by US city. It was also underpopulated - it now contains ten articles as well as the subcat (one of them for a statue which was removed amidst no small amount of news coverage less than a month ago). Grutness...wha? 12:59, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose. This is part of a huge category tree under Category:Former buildings and structures, and as Grutness points out it's part of an established series: Category:Former buildings and structures in the United States by city. No reason is given for treating St. Louis as an exception to this series. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs)
- While there is an established series, I don't think it's an established series to the point where we would keep an empty category just because it's an established series - not every city has one. With the Idaho Building (1904) not "demolished" in St. Louis I think we can keep the cat now as it's not empty, but some of the new additions probably shouldn't be there, including an old ice arena that's not actually in St. Louis. Just to be clear, since all demolished buildings are former buildings, but not all former buildings are demolished buildings, I have been moving demolished buildings from "former" (which I think is a catch-all for "the building isn't there anymore" to demolished "the building isn't there anymore, and we have a reference showing it was voluntarily removed") including one of the newly added articles to the category after finding a demolition date. It's been an interesting little project... SportingFlyer T·C 18:14, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- I was actually surprised when hunting for more entries that almost all of St. Louis' former buildings were demolished. Most cities have at least a couple destroyed by natural disasters (fire, earthquake, etc). While St Louis isn't renowned for its earthquakes, one of the US's biggest ever quakes was not far from there. And for a city which was for a while during pioneering days the US's biggest inland city, the absence of buildings destroyed by accidents and acts of God is surprising. Grutness...wha? 18:40, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- I've struggled with how to categorise buildings that burned. Sometimes you'll see articles saying they tore down the ruined building, sometimes the building will be so burned that it's just gone. But that's neither here nor there. SportingFlyer T·C 18:45, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Yup - its a problem. There's no real cut-and-dried way of working that out as far as I can tell. Grutness...wha? 18:46, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Keep. Category is populated with nine articles contrary to assertions it is empty. St. Louis has a vast history of former buildings, demolished and otherwise, (given it's age and rust-belt status) I think this category is likely to grow significantly. In addition it matches many other similar categories for other major U.S. cities. Grey Wanderer (talk) 22:13, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
