Reviews

  • I have seen some of your contributions to Wikipedia; I have come to the conclusion that you are an excellent editor. Despite being with Wikipedia for only half a year, you have made 5000+ edits (with 2500+ mainspace edits) and have perfect use of edit summaries starting from your second month. That is very outstanding indeed.
Now, I have also seen your edits and although you have many edits to articles, they are mainly to revert edits (correct me if I am wrong). True, you have a number of edits to Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident, Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School and a couple others, but I think that you should be more active in improving articles. You do specialise in vandal-fighting, and I believe that you are doing a very good job; nevertheless, you should pay more attention to the articles.
Referring to your AfD participation, you have a good grasp of the basic policies in Wikipedia. However, I suggest that you take a look at the article's history to see if it's an orphaned article (no edits over a long period of time), check its sources and look it up in Google. This will give you a good insight of your decision in the AfD. Also, I recommend that you give more "meat" to your AfDs. "...delete per nom." is hardly a good reason to delete an article.
I hope that this review helped you get what you wanted to know. If there are any queries regarding my review (wrong accusations, etc.), please contact me on my talk page. Cheers, Zacharycrimsonwolf 14:42, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For one, I've also contributed quite a bit to Artemis Fowl II, Artemis Fowl I, which I wrote, Butler family (Artemis Fowl), which I also wrote, which doesn't show up as mainspace edits because I worked on it a lot in my userspace, Shield (Artemis Fowl), as well as the ones you mentioned. And my reason for stating "per nom" on AfD's is because I find no need to restate the points that other people made, so I simply reference to those instead of restating them. I'll chime in here.

  • Artemis Fowl I is certainly a good start, considering how new to Wikipedia you are. I'd suggest looking for an appropriate WikiProject to add it to, by placing the appropriate WikiProject template on Talk:Artemis Fowl I. Maybe Wikipedia:WikiProject Books or one of the more specific subprojects.
    • If you moved your user subpage to Artemis Fowl I, the edit history should have moved along with it. See WP:MOVE for instructions on avoiding copy-and-paste moves. If you used the correct move procedure and the history did not survive, someone should look into that.
  • I haven't studied your record of deletion debates enough to estimate your awareness of giving "outplacement" advice. I'll just summarize it generally in case you haven't heard about this yet. Part of WP:AGF is acknowledging the value of other users' contributions, even if they are inappropriate for Wikipedia, by making a good-faith effort to find happy homes for any contributions that aren't obviously malicious. Lots of people stumble into Wikipedia and start creating new articles in good faith before they read the friendly manuals (especially WP:NOT). In my experience with deletion debates, many users seem happy enough to get their work on some wiki, even if it's not Wikipedia. Often new users come here without realizing other wikis exist. You might have less stress and fewer vandalism attacks if you become familiar with the available alternate outlets, and become good at finding suitable sites for Wikipedia's rejects. It really can be crushing to people to spend hours working on an article only to have it deleted altogether. See:

That's all I've got for now. Keep up the good work. If you're looking for a content editing challenge, I'd suggest Peak oil if you are interested, since this is a massive problem which will probably impact everyone for years, and your generation will inherit the mess. There are lots of POV wars on that one and its related articles, and we can always use more people to Google for sources. --Teratornis (talk) 07:26, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think you're a great editor and fierce vandal fighter, and you're helpful in many areas. I was surprised to find out on your userpage that you were in 7th grade; I'm quite young myself, but 7th grade? Wow. I would never have expected it from your maturity and vocabulary. As a suggestion, I would recommend making more article contributions outside of reverting vandalism, e.g., getting articles featured, adding sources, etc. Cheers, King of 04:44, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
Most likely Butler family (Artemis Fowl), as I created that page, and many other pages in the Artemis Fowl Wikiproject, as I contribute there semi-frequently. Calvin 1998 (t-c) 00:30, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Conflicts? Edit wars? A few with some POV-pushers/trolls/vandals, and a little one on Artemis Fowl:The Time Paradox with User:Mollymoon, but that's it. Stress? Umm... vandals who came to my userpage and viciously vandalized it cause me stress (my userpage is now protected), but vandals/pov-pushers complaining on my talk page still cause me quite a bit of stress. However, I've never been blocked for any conflict, and never in a big one, so I don't know how I'll deal with it in the future. Calvin 1998 (t-c) 00:30, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
My advice for dealing with wikistress, if it gets out of hand, is to go answer questions on the Help desk, Village pump, etc. One way to forget one's own problems is to get absorbed in other people's problems. You can get lots of barnstars by answering Help desk questions, and it's a great way to demonstrate your grasp of policies and guidelines and everything else for your eventual WP:RFA, assuming that's your goal. (See PrimeHunter's RFA; he's got the 2nd or 3rd most edits on the Help desk, and clearly he built his reputation there.) --Teratornis (talk) 07:26, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
