Wikipedia:Editor review/Hdt83

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hdt83 (talk · contribs) Hi, I am Hdt83. I was recently on RFA [1] which I withdrew from due to the number of oppose votes. I am here to find out how I can improve myself to become a better editor and to see what others think of my contributions on Wikipedia. -- Hdt83 Chat 22:47, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews

Despite the impression you might have received from your RFA, you're one of the good guys (or girls). You paid the price mostly for one silly "get a life" comment. Since you have apologized and learned from your mistake, it should not hinder you from reapplying in the autumn. Your general attitude, as I determined from skimming your talk page, is quite mature. Often we respond in kind to others: we smile to those who smile at us, and we scowl to those who scowl at us. The challenge is to keep the smile always, and to deal methodically with miscreants.

I can't force you to write articles if you don't enjoy it. I don't write articles from scratch anymore except when the muse arouses my creativity. However, there are ways to maintain the integrity of Wikipedia other than rote recent changes patrol. I can't speak for other reviewers, but I discourage RC patrol as a primary endeavor for any Wikipedian. I believe it's important, and I spent an hour on it earlier today, but there are too many other problems to solve - problems that have lingered for months, not minutes. I like to patrol the deletion debates, new pages (including new user pages), uncategorized pages, dead-end pages (or occasionally orphaned pages), and suspected conflict-of-interest pages (see WP:COIN). These are just a few ideas that I've worked on recently.

I commend you for your consistent work on the help desk and on Articles for Creation. Too many editors forget what it was like to be a WP:NOOB. You seem to remember, and you have been very helpful in welcoming and assisting the next generation of Wikipedians. I wish you good luck. YechielMan 01:37, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have not taken a look at your actual edits but I have noticed you have a high edit count. You did not fail your Rfa because of your edit count. I would suggest that you start to make edits to articles, and vote in mfd's afd's etc. If you want to become an admin you need to show a knowledge of policy. Have a nice week and God bless:)--James, La gloria è a dio 01:46, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Your edit count looks good, with a reasonable spread of contribution over the whole project. You should be fine whewn you apply for your RfA. One point, of course; following on from our recent interaction, do not make assumptions without full knowledge of detail. Admin decisions are important (although always reversible), and need to be made in full knowledge of the situation.--Anthony.bradbury"talk" 23:37, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I am particularly pleased with the vandal fighting I have done on Wikipedia. Vandalism can ruin the reliability of Wikipedia which is why I am proud of my accomplishments in making Wikipedia vandalism free. I am also pleased with helping out at WP:AFC.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
No I haven't been in any recent conflicts over editing. If I am stressed out, I would deal with it by taking a wikibreak and avoiding the conflict when possible.
