Reviews
- Well, there doesn't seem to have been too much activity here of yet, and since I occasionally drag myself away from WP:BIRD in order to do something WIKI-ish that doesn't have feathers I may as well do this. Briefly, because as I said I get uncomfortable if there isn't a beak and an Velociraptor in the family tree.
- Lets see. You've been somewhat vague about why you want this. That makes it slightly hard to gauge what you want to improve. Perhaps you wish to eventually be demoted to the ranks of administrator, like I was once (damn). Actually, I'm going to assume that is the case, and if I'm wrong feel free to come and bitch-slap me about on my talk page and I'll slap you back for being vague and then I can review you again if you haven't been traumatised the first time around. But as far as I can tell people who submit themselves to user reviews are heading that way.
- At present your contributions to the actual encyclopaedia are somewhere on the lighter end of the scale. I had to travel several pages into your contributions to find many - actually, I'd put the ratio at about one article edit per 25 edits. The actual ratio is perhaps a bit better - 384 article edits out of 1822 edits in total shows that the ratio is 1/5, which suggests that the number of article edit was once higher than it is now. The most number of edits made to any page - (Sims 3 - 19) is dwarfed by the most number of edits to a project devoted to talking about those kinds of article. Personally, this doesn't bother me. Everyone does what they want on Wikipedia, and if you don't want to play around in the articles then I see no reason why you should. I like birds (as I may have already mentioned) and noone really makes me leave them so I am happy as a clam and live a live and let live wiki life. But...
- A quick review of the firing wall known as Wikipedia:Requests for adminship shows that this isn't a winning formulae for demotion. If (and I again emphasise that this may no be the case) you eventually want to reach the dizzy lows of having lots of monkey faeces thrown at you for existing and the ability to block people (mostly for throwing faeces at you), the RFA people demand that you show a certain degree of interest in the articles, them (apparently) being the reason that we are all here. And it helps if you do more than simple stuff like taking stuff out or re-adding stuff that is removed. Content is king and many editors will overlook a whole plethora of flaws if they feel that you are devoted to adding content (which is why I slipped through the net). Alternatively vandal bashing and recent edit patrolling is a good way to boost mainspace edits, make a contribution that is appreciated and demonstrate an understanding of many of the admin functions. Other people like vandal fighters, if only because it means they don't have to do it themselves (allowing them to do other things, like argue about whether Lindsay Lohan is bisexual or just acting, or whether you should use a : or a ;, or writing about jewel-babblers).
- More generally, you're new here, but people get very hot on edit summaries and the sooner you get in the subconscious habit of typing something, anything, before pressing submit the sooner you won't have to worry about it. People will check your usage with a bot that simply checks you use them and if you use them lots then they won't know that you've typed 'revfert npoc' or strat calss or whetever barely readable nonsense.
- Anyway, that is enough of my rambling. If you're interested in adminship then I reiterate that content and edit summaries are important. If you're not, you don't seem to be a drama queen or a negative editor that I can tell. Anyway, feel free to drop me a line if you have further questions, feel I was unfair in some way, or are curious to know why the caged bird sings. Sabine's Sunbird talk 06:02, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
