Wikipedia:Editor review/J-stan 3

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

J-stan (talk · contribs) I'm back! I haven't had a review in a month or two, so thought it might be good to refresh myself with some constructive criticism. I've had adminship in the back of my mind, but I don't want to go through it without coaching, and as of this writing, I am #13 on the list of requests. So, I welcome your kindness, so please make sure that you are, in fact, kind. J-ſtanTalkContribs 02:53, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews

J-stan, I looked at your contributions and what I see is you like to do easy, high-volume work: reverting vandalism, removing bits and pieces of others' edits, etc. It is mostly copyediting. For you to make progress as an editor, I suggest you pick a page you care about, and start writing. --Una Smith 17:20, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Like expanding stubs and stuff like that? I think I could try that. Thanks! J-ſtanTalkContribs 20:34, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought for a moment about nominating you for adminship, but I checked your edit profile (independent of this review) and decided you might need a little more experience to pass RFA. I like the way you participate in community discussions. I don't do "admin coaching" officially, but you can ask me questions (you already did this once, about how I closed an RFD). One thing I like to do, and which is excellent training for how to choose whether to delete an article as an admin, is to decide whether to pass or fail submissions at Wikipedia:Articles for creation.

Your response to the question about conflicts seems fine. Vandal-fighters like you and me take a little abuse, but you're not letting it bother you. Keep up the good work. Shalom (HelloPeace) 17:01, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
Well, in addition to the work on the Paintball wikiproject mentioned in previous ERs of mine, I would like to point out my anti-vandal work. I have Twinkle, AVT, and as of yesterday, AWB. I helped organize the CVU task force along with The Random Editor and others. I have adopted two users, the first, User:Ryan4314, I met on the CVU talk page, and have helped him become what I think is a very active vandal fighter. The second, User:Missingno390, is a newer Wikipedian, who I found on a snow-storm RfA. I have also helped aid a school project working on wikipedia.
More to the mainspace, I have helped expand the Tom Clancy's EndWar, which looks pretty good for a future video game.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Aside from a user being blocked because he vandalized my userpage because I CSD tagged a page he created, and came back as a sock to vandalize my userpage, I have had many interesting conversations with User:Cheeser1. Many conflicts have occured, one even pushing me to temporarily leave the page. Though I believe he is at times incivil, I accused him of wikilawyering, when he is trying to abide by policy. I apologized, and since then, we have not really improved our communication. I always try to remain civil and to not bite the newbies.
