Reviews

  • (Just a quick comment, not a full review) Looking through your contributions, you've often made many consecutive edits to the same article (example), which can be seen as an attempt to artificially boost your edit count. Though I don't think you are in fact trying to do this, you may want to use the preview button before you save and edit, and don't be afraid of making one big edit instead of numerous small ones—remember, quality over quantity. • Also: don't forget your edit summaries (you can see your ratio here). I'd suggest turning on "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" under Special:Preferences if you have a hard time remembering — and if you want to eventually be an admin, it will definitely be an issue if you don't generally use them (not to mention that it's rather helpful in general). Review by Camaron[edit]

I am now, as I have said I would, give you a full review - even if I am a little slow at getting round to it! It is clear you have been a long term contributor to Wikipedia with edits as far back as June 2007, and in that time you have made over 500 edits. You have not been particularly active recently, I hope you continue to contribute as your edits were productive for the project.

After reviewing your edits I am glad you do use edit summaries occasionally, but I think you should use them more often as it makes it easier for everyone. I would suggest "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" under Special:Preferences to help you do this. You do also tend to make lots of consecutive edits to the same article, this is often unavoidable with human editing but to reduce it I would suggest using the preview button as much as you can. Another tip I can give is to try and use the "New section" tab on talk pages if you want to start a new discussion, it is a trivial issue but makes things easier.

I am bit concerned on your uploading of copyrighted material such as Image:The Sims 3 Theme.ogg. Make sure such uploads follow WP:FAIRUSE fully, meaning that you provide details and fair use rationales for material as soon as you upload it, and ensure that uploaded material is being used in at least one article. I notice quite a few of your uploads have been deleted for varies reasons (as an admin I can see your deleted contributions). The main reasons seem to be WP:CSD#I7 and WP:CSD#I5, which is a shame as a lot of productive material may have been lost. To avoid future such deletions make sure your uploads fully follow WP:NFCC if they are fair use (i.e. copyrighted material such as video game screen shots). Some articles you have created have also been deleted, but most of these are from 2007 suggesting you have learnt lessons. Make sure that articles you create follow WP:N, WP:NOT, WP:V, and provide sufficient context so a reader can understand them.

It is also good to see that you have assessed articles as well as added to them, which is a good task that you should continue. I notice you appear to have aspirations for adminship. If you want the tools you will mainly need to edit more and gain more experience in general in contributing to Wikipedia and follow the advice I have given above. I would suggest you diversify more and gain experience in admin areas such as WP:New pages patrol and WP:AFD. Users also prefer if admins archive messages on their user talk pages rather than clear them, so old messages can easily be viewed, even if both methods are officially acceptable. For help with archiving, see WP:Archive and have a look at an example at User talk:Camaron. You may wish to also keep an eye on WP:RFA to see what people want from admins. Overall, you are a good contributor to Wikipedia and I wish you luck with your future editing. Camaron | Chris (talk) 19:37, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
There are definitely a few, but I would like to focus on one. I have had much interest in the author Jeanne DuPrau, and I recently began editing her works, and her page. I even contacted her, and got content description help from her, and edited the article to respect her wishes.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I don't like edit wars. They are very hard to get through, because usually both sides are confident they are right. In most cases, I believe it is best to come to an agreement, or contact a third person. If I fall into an an edit war, I will want to stop it right away, because Wikipedia articles should be stable for the people that read them.
