RadManCF[edit]

RadManCF (talk · contribs · count) I have been here since November of 2008, and have mainly engaged in wikignomeing, having made 450+ edits. I have created two articles, both stubs about businesses based in the Twin Cities, MN. I hope at some point to become an admin, but wish to wait until my edit count is higher. Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
My main contribution is new page patrolling, and correction of spelling and grammar in articles.
  2. Have you been in any disputes over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I became involved in a discussion recently after tagging a number of articles for speedy deletion while patrolling new pages. I had misunderstood a number of guidelines regarding CSD and notability, and had tagged a number of articles for speedy deletion because their notability was limited to Ireland. I debated this at length with an admin, who gradually convinced me that I should not have used CSD, and that I had misunderstood notability guidelines.

Reviews

I have taken a look at your article, All American Recreation.

First, it lacks content. Just one sentence isn't enough to prove that it's notable. Try to tell the reader what's so special about it that Wikipedia must include it, eg it breaks the world record for so-and-so, somebody got murdered there, etc. (OK, so these two might be a bit of exaggeration but you get the idea.)

Second, it lacks reliable sources. Just that single site about having fun in Minneapolis and St.Paul is not enough. You should find a source like the daily mail, the times, national geographic, you know things like that and provide the publisher, publication date, author, etc. so people will know the site's OK without clicking on it.

Thanks for taking your time to read this comment. Kayau Voting IS evil 05:28, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
