  • Hello stor--I mean Red Thunder! I know you from way back from your vandal fighting work. From a quick look at your talk page, I see you taking time to help a new user, which is great. I also see a couple notes about errors vandal patrolling. No big deal, every vandal patroller makes some. But I found it troubling that the May 27 note from an IP didn't appear to be followed up on at all, and it looks to me like they were right, you did make an error.[1] Why didn't you follow up on the note and apologize and try to fix it? That's gotta be very frustrating for new users, and may be a way new users are driven off. Correct me if I'm wrong, I just didn't see any followup on your talk page or theirs. Other than that I didn't see any problems on my quick review of your work, I'm impressed by your article and list writing work! I'm going to bed now, but gimme a poke on my talk page if you'd like a proper review and I'll be happy to give you one. Feel free to follow up on that question about the revert here or on my talk page. delldot talk 09:15, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again Red Thunder, a few more thoughts:

  • I'm not sure you noticed my reply to your note on my talk page. Did you consider following up on my suggestion there?
  • This makes me suspect you may not understand image use policy. Have I misinterpreted what happened here, or did you upload an image from a website with no free license statement? If so, I recommend a thorough review of the Image use policy before uploading any more. Using only free content is a very fundamental aspect of WP and is one of the five pillars. Can you explain or point me to some work you have done that shows that you understand why it is important not to infringe on copyrights, and what copyright infringement entails? Definitely let me know if you need any help with this or would like to discuss any aspect of it.
  • Very minor punctuation point: if it's plural and possessive, the apostrophe goes after the s. So it would be "
  • Another very minor thing: Why not convert the raw URL's to links in Luis Castillo (baseball)? Your mainspace contributions look good. Looks like you have a good knowledge of the MOS.
  • You say you have "not been in many conflicts". So you've had some? Can you link me to them? If so I can comment more on how you handled them.
  • I can't tell for sure because you don't reply on your own talk page, but it looks like there have been more times than just the one I brought up earlier where people have brought up concerns with you and you haven't followed up. for example, on May 16 someone brought up an AWB concern (don't feel like finding the diff). It would be courteous and good practice to reply, if only to thank them for bringing up the concern and let them know what you plan to do about it, or to explain yourself. I would also have appreciated just a "duly noted" or something in response to my reply (though that was my bad for not pinging you with my reply). That way I would at least know you'd seen it and what you thought of it. That's communication, an important part of adminship. Good work replying on User talk:Cyclopsga when they approached you, though you might have been even more friendly and welcoming. Your short replies could be interpreted as curtness (remember we don't have the voice and facial clues when typing to express our friendly attitude, so it leaves it open to interpretation).
  • You said that you agreed with the oppose reasons in your last RfA. What in particular did you agree that you need to work on there?
  • I see people on your talk page asking for help, and it looks like you give it, so that's great.

In general I'd suggest making sure to be more communicative, especially with newcomers, whom you should make a special effort to reach out to (though good job helping some of them). delldot on a public computer talk 06:59, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I'd have to say that my best contributions to Wikipedia would be in two areas. These two areas are vandalism fighting and sports articles. In the field of vandalism fighting, I have reverted many user's vandal-edits and made nearly 90 reports to WP:AIV. I hope to continue to do so, but spend more time at AIV viewing reports. In sports articles, I have created or expanded many articles related to baseball or basketball. My best work would have to be either Luis Castillo (baseball), Ivan Rodriguez, or List of Heisman Trophy winners. These would have to be my best contributions.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Because I work in the field of sports articles, I have not been in many conflicts since I have started here. I have had some stress put upon me by other users, mostly angry users angry at me for reverting their vandalism. In the future, I would alert a trusted user to mediate the dispute and help settle the conflict.
