Wikipedia:Editor review/Train2104
Train2104 (talk · contribs · count) I have been editing Wikipedia since December, and I want to have this editor review as a calmer environment to have other users point out potential problems as compared to RFA, although I do plan on filing for it if the results of this come out well. — Train2104 (talk • contribs • count) 01:22, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Questions
- What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
- I am most proud of my work in updating Wikipedia to reflect the New York City Transit service cuts of 2010. While the job is not yet 100% (some residue lurks around), it is mostly done. A few weeks later, we were faced with the re-designation of the entire SEPTA Regional Rail system. Using what I learned from the first operation, this was a bit easier. Now, I focus on CSD and other deletion-related processes.
- Have you been in editing disputes or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future? If you have never been in an editing dispute, explain how you would respond to one.
- Thankfully, editing disputes are rare, and are usually resolved in a short amount of time since the topics are not controversial and there are usually just a couple of users involved. Talk-page discussion or userspace drafts usually resolve anything that may arise.
Reviews
Hallo there, sorry it's taken such a ridiculously long time for you to get reviewed. In any case, my general impression of you is that you seem to be a fairly low-key and uncontroversial editor--nice work on that, we could use a whole lot more people like you. Your contributions look pretty good overall, if mostly minor in nature (hardly a bad thing, maintainance edits are as important as writing, but people generally give more credit to major content creation. Sort of a matter of social status, imo). As far as I can tell, you generally respond well to questions or criticism and work well with other people, good work there. You've a nice balance of automated vs. manual edits, and your use of edit summeries is quite good. I like the balance of edits to articles/other namespaces as well.
As you mention an RfA, I would have to say that probably wouldn't be a good idea. You've only been seriously editing for eightish months, and it's rare someone passes with less than a year of experience. Also, as I mentioned, while your article edits are good, they aren't especially impressive to people who are used to seeing candidates come forward with normally at least several DYKs to their credit. If you want to go for RfA, I'd advise waiting until late spring or so, and try to write some more in the interim. Maybe create a couple articles or expand some, see if you can get a few through DYK, and your chances of success would be greatly improved. A good article or two would also be good, although not essential.
On the other hand, there's absolutely nothing wrong with continuing on as you've been doing, you'd be an asset to Wikipedia either way. Best wishes, C628 (talk) 23:46, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
