Wikipedia:GLAM/New Zealand Wikipedian at Large/August 2018 Report
Appearance
- This month I was based at New Zealand Geographic magazine, where I talked to staff about better integration with Wikipedia, "wikified" articles so they could test referrals to stories from Wikipedia vs other sources, and ran two Wikiblitzes on kauri dieback, building on a recent feature story in the magazine.
- I also continued Tuesday afternoons with Auckland Museum, mass-uploading several hundred recent photographs with Pattypan in preparation for a Commons public event.
- At the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections conference in Dunedin I presented to an audience of museum professionals on the importance of Wikipedia as a tool for disseminating research and collection images.
