The result of the discussion was: keep, PUF is for disputing freely licensed files, not non-free files. WP:FFD is the venue you're looking for, though it's already tagged with {{di-disputed fair use rationale}}, so that's rather pointless. — ξxplicit 00:44, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Presumed to be a copyrighted image and as far as I know the subject is still alive. Granted, this is probably the most adorable picture of him I've ever seen and a recent picture would not show the subject as he is/was most well known, but I don't believe these reasons qualify for the "fair-use" of a copyrighted image in the bio of a living person (I wish it did, but it just doesn't). Please correct me if I'm wrong. Crakkerjakk (talk) 02:58, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Note: This image is currently tagged as non-free. If there is a dispute with the rationale, please tag the image with {{dfu}} or list it at WP:Non-free content review. AnomieBOT⚡ 09:05, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Tineye finds 1,982 other instances of this file. It appears to be derived from some sort of motivational poster or greeting card, as suggested by this 2007 upload on Flickr. No suggestion on the blog from which this was taken that it's PD and, "It can be found in several different blogs and entries on the internet, without a copyright claim" isn't really a valid indicator that the file in the PD at all. - And this could easily be replicated as a free image by putting a different cat in front of a mirror and putting a lion in the reflection. Or something like that. Definitely unfree; how did the uploader get the idea that mass inattention to copyright status makes something PD? Daniel Case (talk) 21:14, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I'm the up loader. But i did not intend to violate any copyright issues... am relatively new and wanted to seek advice on uploading this image... I asked someone too but they did not reply.so this time i assumed this is fine. guess i was wrong. I found this image at many blogs written about grandiose delusions. thought when it is so common and used everywhere then their might not be an issure using it on the GD page as it is a very nice depiction of the true nature of the disorder. hope someone might help me out here :) thank youZoono92 (talk) 22:34, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- No harm done, Zoono92. I made mistakes as a new user too...it's just a part of the learning process. What Wikipedia is looking for is free images. Unfortunately, being plastered all over the internet does not a free image make. You can find hundreds of videos all over the web of Disney Princesses, but that doesn't mean that they're any less Disney's property. The vast majority of the internet (the part that isn't Wikipedia) generally cares a lot less about proper copyright status and attribution, and that's unfortunate because it makes our job a little harder. So what should you be looking for in a free image? The easiest indicator is Creative Commons status. Most images are, either by default or by choice, copyrighted, meaning they pretty much can't be uploaded to Wikipedia or reproduced or altered or reused in any way. The Creative Commons license is selected by people who want their work to be shared and reused. There are two acceptable CC licenses that we look for: Creative Commons Attribution and Creative Commons Attribution Sharealike. Try searching searching Flickr by entering some search terms, then scrolling down and checking "Only search within Creative Commons-licensed content", "Find content to use commercially", and "Find content to modify, adapt, or build upon" at the bottom. It's possible that nothing will come up, and that's unfortunate but common. The web's a cool place, but it hasn't totally realized its potential to be a free marketplace of art, entertainment, and ideas. Regrettably, we have to delete this image for now, but with any luck, you'll find something free and/or someone will make their own image for the grandiose delusions page.
