National anthems are not the only type of patriotic music. feminist 15:12, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- Keep What would you propose as an alternative? Currently, "national anthem" is the closest and best target for these potential search terms. Not sure if 'patriotic music' is a genre in itself. Mar4d (talk) 15:37, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- Retarget to Category:Patriotic songs (the closest thing I could find on wikipedia) or delete: all national anthems are presumably patriotic songs, but not all patriotic songs are recognised as anthems, and in fact most patriotic songs are not national anthems, so keeping would be misleading. – Uanfala 23:46, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- Delete. Misleading, for instance, "rebel songs" could be considered patriotic, even though they oppose the statehood. There may be an article that needs to be written about the use of patriotic/rebel songs/anthems (including sport and charity) and how they have developed through time, but no cause for a redirect at the moment. --Richhoncho (talk) 09:47, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
- Delete per nom and WP:XY. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 13:11, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
- Delete not the same. This was a redirect to a list, which was deleted (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of patriotic songs) - should the category also be nominated for deletion for the same reason? If the category survives should the article be restored? Peter James (talk) 16:54, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
- Retarget to Category:Patriotic songs per Uanfala. The current target is subset of this search term, while the category is a 1:1 match. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 06:54, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

I can't see how this would be a likely search term. feminist 15:05, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- Delete per nominator, particularly due to miscapitalisation. Aside from the age, more or less a {{db-author}} given this edit by the creator one minute after creating the page. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 07:10, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was retarget to Pentatonic scale. --BDD (talk) 21:42, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- Pentatonics → Pentatonix (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Pentatonic redirects to Pentatonic scale, but "Pentatonics" does sound more like Pentatonix than "Pentatonic". Where should this target to, Pentatonix or Pentatonic scale? feminist 14:54, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- Instead... Maybe a disambiguation page would be best? -- Beland (talk) 18:46, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- Do not keep. Pentatonic can be used as a noun, which has a plural. If kept targeted to the group it would be an {{R from misspelling}} and such a redirect can't take precedence over the proper meaning of a term. – Uanfala 23:54, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
Keepnumber of views over the past few years show it is useful, especially December 2016 when it had 700 views in a month. The group is named after the scale, and pentatonic is an adjective not a noun, so it shouldn't be plural, and phonetically sounds like the group which is the more likely target for searchers. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 04:41, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
- Striking vote in light of research journals and books showing pentatonics to be a plural noun. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:47, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
- Retarget to Pentatonic scale. WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT based on usage in reliable sources and long-term significance. Routledge [1] and many other reputable publishers [2] accept it as a real noun; bands are basically never WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT for misspellings of their names which are also real words. (Also worth noting: there's a Pentatonic (band) redirect for a different band, as well as various probably non-notable bands called Pentatonics. Pentatonic scale already has hatnote for Pentatonix.) 59.149.124.29 (talk) 06:32, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
- Retarget to Pentatonic scale. Google shows plenty of uses for "pentatonics" to mean pentatonic scales, and I think users who have spelled correctly should take precedence over those who haven't. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 13:09, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
- Comment Pentatonics, Pentatonix, A Pentatonix Christmas, and Pentatonic scale all have a peak on December 16, 2016, per WikiPageStats. (Question: Why can't I get stats for Pentatonic? It's a redirect, but so is Pentatonics, the only difference being that now Pentatonics has transformed into an article through placement of the RFD tag.) (I wonder whether Gedda would consider adding the ability to assign scale factors to the selected terms so that search trends could be more directly compared.) (Same question re Pageviews Analysis.) (Wow, I found the roundabout way to get views for Pentatonic, using the Redirect Views feature of Pageviews Analysis on Pentatonic scale and then selecting Pentatonic from the results. Seems an unnecessary extra couple of steps.) Largoplazo (talk) 00:49, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
- Pentatonic (the redirect page), click Page information in the left-hand frame under Tools, scroll to the bottom to Page view statistics. Works for me. But I just added a couple of page views ;-) Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:28, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hmm. But if you go directly to the tool and try to add several pages, it doesn't make Pentatonic available for selection in the drop-down list. Largoplazo (talk) 10:26, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

- Retarget to Pentatonic scale and hatnote back to the current target. A Google Books search [3] search shows that it does get use in reference to the scale. A correct usage should take precedence over a phonetic misspelling. Readers would be served by the hatnote.---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 18:23, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
