- Highwood, Batangas → Mataasnakahoy (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Not mentioned at the target, delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 23:16, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Delete. This may be a WP:OR translation: from Mataasnakahoy, 'Although the town's name is written as one word, it comes from the Tagalog phrase mataás na kahoy, meaning "high wood".'
- I found Highwood Subdivision, Bagong Pook, Lipa City, Batangas. Bagong Pook is a barrio in Lemery, Batangas with population 1,336, so we're unlikely to have an article on it anytime soon, let alone on a part of it.
- I also found the Facebook page of Highwood Mataasnakahoy, a car dealer in Lipa, Batangas.
- The entry on DAB page Highwood should be deleted. Narky Blert (talk) 07:19, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
- Delete: Is this a joke? Even if this is a translation (a literal one), no one would call it like that (if you ask me). Maybe as a joke or something, but in this case, it's just silly. —hueman1 (talk) 15:28, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

seems like an unlikely abbreviation, and given Jaguar Cars makes an engine series referred to by the initials AJ (e.g. Jaguar AJ6 engine), there is a possibility for confusion. I would thus suggest deletion. signed, Rosguill talk 23:07, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Delete as confusing; could also refer to this. J947 (c), at 03:26, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
- Delete per above. There's also A.J. Cars and AJ Trade Cars Limited. Narky Blert (talk) 06:44, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
- Delete. Thi redirect may cause confusion. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:44, 8 February 2020 (UTC)

- Thora Balf → Thomas Edison (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Not mentioned in the target. Internet searches suggest that at one point, our article for Phonograph attributed the technology's invention to one Thora Balf in 1877, but this information has since been removed and was likely vandalism to begin with. Delete unless a justification is provided. signed, Rosguill talk 23:04, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Delete. The only hit in a Google search was this redirect. Narky Blert (talk) 06:47, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
- Delete. Enwiki has nothing about Thora Balf. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:45, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
- Delete - There's no actual evidence that such a person even existed, let alone was associated with a notable scientific feat. Deletion is totally the right call. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 00:34, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

- delete Never heard of it. Is there any relation to Al Pease? Andy Dingley (talk) 23:30, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Delete. The Pease family is well-known in NE England, and Edward Pease (railway pioneer) was what his qualifier says he was. (Local knowledge can help in searching.) However, I can find no evidence that he or any other member of that family, or anyone else called Pease, was involved in engine design. Narky Blert (talk) 07:57, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

River Running

- The result of the discussion was retarget to Rafting. This is a bit complicated since the other RfD has already been started. I guess I'll go ahead and add it to that discussion too. --BDD (talk) 16:51, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- River Running → Middle-earth#Geography (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Obscure Middle-earth redirect. I can't find any mentions, and the region it was in (Rhovanion) has been redirected. Propose retarget to Rafting where River running retargets. Maybe tag as an R from alternate name. Hog Farm (talk) 15:50, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- Rafting? That's just a mistake for "running rivers in a raft" which has nothing to do with Middle-earth. I suggest we point this at Mirkwood#In Tolkien's writings and add a note there about the river, which goes along the eastern edge of that forest. Chiswick Chap (talk) 22:30, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Chiswick Chap: Yes, that would be a much better solution. The content was not a Mirkwood when I nominated the article. I felt that there was a good case to keep the redirect, but the only target I could think of was as a parallel to the River running redirect. The Mirkwood article needs improvement (I moved the Enchanted River redirect there, even though Bombur falling into it isn't mentioned at the article). Hog Farm (talk) 01:57, 23 January 2020 (UTC)

- Weak-ish retarget to Rafting#Pins and clips, where it's mentioned verbatim, with an {{R to section}} rcat; or,
- Prefer retarget to Rafting (disambiguation), where we could add a See also reference to Middle-earth#Geography as that would be in scope of what a See also reference on a dab page is. In turn, there's no harm in retargeting River running to the dab page; or, alternatively, having a different target per WP:DIFFCAPS --Doug Mehus T·C 16:16, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
- Comment to Chiswick Chap, would you support a retarget to the dab page? There's probably no primary topic here and it's highly unlikely someone searching for "river running" would be thinking of Tolkien or Middle-earth, and this would allow us to add a reference to Middle-earth under an applicable dab page section. I suspect even Hog Farm could get behind this. Doug Mehus T·C 14:08, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- It's not ideal but if that's all that's on offer then fine. Chiswick Chap (talk) 16:04, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think we have a clearly primary topic, though, to keep at Middle-earth. We could also delete, create a new dab page, or retarget somewhere else, but it's not immediately clear to me what those options might be. Feel free to propose something and ping me, if you wish. Doug Mehus T·C 16:14, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- I think with the capitalization, it would be best to add some content to Mirkwood and retarget there, but I would not object to the dab page either, as a second choice. Hog Farm (talk) 19:42, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- True...so then, maybe retargeting, on an interim basis, to the dab page is best, without prejudice to retargeting to Mirkwood or creating an article if and when said content exists? Doug Mehus T·C 20:45, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- I can support that. Hog Farm (talk) 21:45, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

Relisting comment: WP:INVOLVED relist. Consensus is shaping up toward retargeting, but the target is unclear as are the potential post-closure outcomes. Should we retarget to Rafting#Pins and clips, where it's mentioned explicitly (though not with the same capitalization), to the dab page, or to somewhere else? Also, regardless of the outcome, should we also retarget River running to the dab page due to lack of a primary topic or other reason, or is it fine to keep it targeted separately per WP:DIFFCAPS?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Doug Mehus T·C 15:12, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Retarget I'd suggest that River running and River Running should both be retargeted to either a disambiguation page (to be created) or to Whitewater, because besides Rafting, "river running is applicable to Whitewater kayaking and Whitewater canoeing (it's specifically mentioned in both of those articles) and possibly other articles as well.Jahaza (talk) 01:05, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
- Jahaza You make a solid case for a separate dab page, which should arguably be River running, I think, as it's consistent with our style guidelines. I'll nominate that one. Any idea on potential dab links? Doug Mehus T·C 03:36, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

Erroneously nominated for PROD by Clayoquot with the justification Redirect target isn't a very suitable. Better to leave this as a redlink.
. I'm inclined to agree. signed, Rosguill talk 00:28, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Delete per @Rosguill and Clayoquot: for the rationale given, but it's also ambiguously named. There's multiple clean energy conferences. Question: Can we speedily delete this under non-controversial or ambiguous redirect rationale somehow? Doug Mehus T·C 15:26, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Comment Dabification might be possible as I see two potential dab link targets in Clean Energy Ministerial and Clean Energy Expo Asia, but per WP:TWODABS and the fact that the potential targets aren't specifically named conferences, hatnotes could probably suffice and I don't see a clear primary topic here. We may want to wait for Narky Blert to review this log page afterall, so even if speedy deletion is possible here, it's probably best to wait the 7-ish days. --Doug Mehus T·C 15:31, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- IMO neither is close enough to the title under discussion to justify a DAB page; especially when Clean energy (disambiguation) doesn't exist. (Clean energy is a redirect to sustainable energy.) Narky Blert (talk) 16:08, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comment, Narky. That expands on my similar thinking, and solidifies my !vote. Doug Mehus T·C 16:11, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
