Temple of Victoria[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Temple of Victory. (non-admin closure) Seventyfiveyears (talk) 14:43, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Victoria" is not mentioned at the target, and it is not clear why this redirect points there. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 14:11, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom, or possibly retarget to Temple of Victory which seems to be known by this name some of the time. Hut 8.5 18:40, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Temple of Victory (although that article could also be moved to this title). Deletion would be confusing to readers, who would expect to find an article about a corresponding temple using this title. P Aculeius (talk) 14:06, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Temple of Victory has a hatnote to Forum Holitorium, which presumably refers to the "Temple of Juno Sospita [...] vowed by Gaius Cornelius Cethegus in 197 BC for his victory over the Insubrian Gauls". I assume many temples were constructed in honor of military victories, so in absence of a source, I don't think we need to worry about this usage. --BDD (talk) 16:58, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temple of Victory seems to be the WP:COMMONNAME for the one on the Palatine [1 again] 2 3 4.
There are some modern, probably NN, edifices called Temple of Victory (Audley End, Harrogate, Kew, Knaresborough). Narky Blert (talk) 12:10, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Rhythmettes[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete (pinging DiamondRemley39). Just to be clear, there's no prejudice against you starting a Draft:The Rhythmettes, but since this redirect has no edit history, there's really nothing to draftify here. If there had ever been an article here, so much as a single sentence, I would've been happy to send that draft space for you, but there hasn't been. --BDD (talk) 16:00, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Recommend deleting the redirect; see research performed by John Pack Lambert at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Optimistic Voices. This redirect has no visible history as a full article, and someone may have decided to redirect a singing group name to a song that is believed to have been performed by them. But that song is from 1939 and the only documented group called the Rhythmettes was formed in 1950 [1], and if they performed the song "Optimistic Voices" that is not necessarily a notable fact. There seems to be nowhere else to redirect the group name, unless the 1950s singing group has an article of their own someday. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 21:27, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Draftify as the group meets WP:BAND 1 and 10. The earlier group of this name is documented in various places, including in Google Books. Follow the trail. According to 1, it was a trio that "gained some notice" in its time. On this page 2, we get the names of two Rhythmettes. We get the names Dorothy Compton and Mary Moder from that book. From their Wikipedia articles, we get names of other (supposed/likely) members who are individually notable, like Bonnie Poe and Mae Questel. From my newspapers.com search I get the name Betty Bruce and some others. We already know they performed Optimistic Voices, which is iconic even if it won't pass notability, and they also performed the vocals in the 3 Little Pigs film. It's to the point where I have enough clippings already that a legitimate draft of the Rhythmettes should be started. It can include a section with information on the older groups that it is not about. Draftify to vet statements and put together a narrative of the band. Pinging Toughpigs for his take--he is much more familiar with Disney of this era. DiamondRemley39 (talk) 11:03, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This is a discussion about the redirect because that's all the page title "Rhythmettes" does right now. It only makes sense to draftify if you are planning to write an entirely new article about the 1930s group, which would be the place to use the page title. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 19:11, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Guess I didn't make it clear: I intend to create an entirely new article about the group, so it makes sense to draftify it. Or it can be deleted and I'll just recreate it from scratch. DiamondRemley39 (talk) 19:46, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

White Tanzanians[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was restore article (and retarget the second one). --BDD (talk) 15:54, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delete as misleading redirects. None of the targets contains information about the past or present white or European population in Tanzania. Place Clichy (talk) 10:26, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Restore White Tanzanians to article [2] without prejudice to AfD. Whether it is notable is disputed, but it has never been discussed anywhere other than edit summaries of varying politeness. This nomination appears to be in good faith, but a discussion about the article content needs to happen and RfD is not the place. Retarget Whites in Tanzania to the restored article. Thryduulf (talk) 15:31, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Restore/retarget per Thryduulf. RfD is not the place to delete content. (That article could probably be expanded. There's also German East Africa, Tanganyika and Zanzibar, among others, to consider.) Narky Blert (talk) 12:17, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
