Eminem song

[edit]

I saw a commercial for a war/battle-themed video game (can't remember what it's called), and there's an Eminem song playing in it. What song is it? 24.189.90.68 (talk) 06:10, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The game appears to be Call of Duty and the song seems to be "Till I Collapse". Dismas|(talk) 06:23, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. 24.189.90.68 (talk) 03:17, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. Just took a few minutes with Google. Dismas|(talk) 04:45, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

CNN International

[edit]

Was CNN International the last English-language television channel which broadcasted in analog on Astra? --84.62.204.133 (talk) 08:28, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

German public television

[edit]

I want have the average age of the audience of all German public television channels listed here. --84.62.204.133 (talk) 08:32, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Surely you would like that information? Gazhiley (talk) 12:44, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've taken the liberty of changing Gazhiley's grammar-correction to small text. Not everyone who posts here is fluent in English, and grammar errors are not important enough to derail a question. Comet Tuttle (talk) 17:05, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Which German public television channels do you mean? Astronaut (talk) 03:55, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
According to this, the average viewer of Phoenix, 3sat and arte is 50 or older. This from the same website implies that the average age of viewers of ARD and ZDF is older than that of commercial competitors Sat.1 and RTL. Concrete data, I'm sure, is hard to come by, if it even exists at all. Xenon54 (talk) 16:06, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

World Cup 2010

[edit]

What does the girl scream before the game starts and after each of two halves? SwampyQ2 (talk) 18:32, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen several matches and haven't noticed a girl screaming. Maybe this is something added by your TV broadcaster. Astronaut (talk) 03:54, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's an option too. SwampyQ2 (talk) 18:29, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OR it's the whistle. The timing works out. 24.83.104.78 (talk) 18:00, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Are you talking about the animation where one person calls out at the center of the screen, and then another repeats the call?--el Aprel (facta-facienda) 20:57, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
i'm talking about some girl yelling something like 'tenaaaapo'. SwampyQ2 (talk) 15:54, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's still not clear to me where you're seeing and hearing this girl. Obviously, we need to know this information if we're to have any chance of answering the question. --Viennese Waltz talk 15:59, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What country are you watching the Cup in? It could be a broadcaster related thing. It's not on CBC in Canada. 70.79.246.134 (talk) 16:20, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The word(s) you're looking for is/are "ke nako" which "the girl" drags out as ke naaaaaaaako! It means "it is time" (i.e. it is Africa's time) in Swahili, Sesotho and Setswana, the last two of which are official South African languages. This Google search and this website (which is Wikipedia blacklisted, just remove the space between "suite" and "101"): (2010-fifa-world-cup.suite 101.com/article.cfm/fifa_2010_world_cup_draw) will give more info. "Ke Nako, Celebrate Africa's Humanity" is the official slogan of the 2010 World Cup.
And to the other RefDeskers, now that you know what to listen out for can you guys confirm whether or not you hear it in your broadcasts? To Swampy, your user page says you speak Croatian so I'll assume that's where you're watching from. Who is your broadcaster? Obviously we get the slogan over here. Zunaid 18:09, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Croatia's broadcaster is HRT. I don't remember hearing the girl when watching matches on ABC and ESPN, and I'm fairly certain she also was absent from the Internet broadcast of ARD. On all three of those broadcasts the commentators go over the lineups until right before the opening whistle, for example, so she may be inaudible underneath ambient noise from the fans, commentators, and vuvuzelas. Xenon54 (talk) 18:31, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If anyone is watching Brazil-Côte d'Ivoire right now let's compare notes at half time and full time. I'll try to record it on my phone. Zunaid 18:52, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Did not hear it on ABC or ARD (linked to video). Xenon54 (talk) 19:27, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Did not hear it on SABC either. I've heard it before during this tournament although I've never actually paid attention to when exactly it is played. It's just a soundbite by the way, no actual girl appears. Zunaid 19:34, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing at full time. "Interesting" game! Zunaid 20:26, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I just saw it in our evening highlights programme (a separate soccer programme, not part of the match broadcast). If you download Xenon54's video then at 1:05 you'll see the graphic of the World Cup swinging into view. This is the tail end of a much longer sequence that is often NOT broadcast in it's entirety. It is this longer sequence that starts with a silhouette of a lady shouting "ke nako", transcending into some music and graphics of fans and players and concluding with the World Cup swinging into view then morphing into the official WC 2010 logo. Different broadcasters may use different parts of this sequence, in particular the video above doesn't even show the morphing transition from the World Cup into the logo. Zunaid 21:20, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can confirm that this animated sequence (in its entirety) also appear in ABC/ESPN's broadcasts in the USA, but usually only as the coverage signs off, and not after matches if another match is about to start within the hour (like the afternoon matches).--el Aprel (facta-facienda) 21:41, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just saw her in the opening titles of Sky Sports' daily highlights programme as well. --Viennese Waltz talk 08:17, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like 'ke nako', thanks guys :) SwampyQ2 (talk) 03:51, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
