Depending on the outcome of the above case, this may need moving to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/AdnanAliAfzal. Since this involves a link via an account blocked in the above case, it seemed best to place it here for now.

Smartsport has repeatedly requested permissions with stolen text from other users and adding the signatures of admins to make it appear that he's been granted permissions (at least superficially). Example: [2]

This is similar to the behavior of Yashiraja, who made similar requests: [3]

Note that both users only requested Confirmed and Extended confirmed. They also both used text provided by other users for requests for permissions unrelated to confirmed/extendedconfirmed (i.e. from rollback or page mover). ~ Rob13Talk 07:55, 24 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Another "Adnan" from Mokalpur visiting Hira Public School (per the account's own information on their userpage). This school article and Mokalpur, Uttar Pradesh have been edited by several other socks and IPs in the past (including EnterShip (talk · contribs) and James Jatt Bond (talk · contribs) respectively, both are confirmed Adnan socks). These edits have been partially useful information, but most of them were for self-promotion and/or social media activity. One of Captain Avenger!'s first edits has been on my talk [4] without any previous interaction between us. However I have been active recently removing spam and copyrighted images from various socks' edits in this area. Given these connections between the existing socks and this "new" user this is likely another sock. If they're not AdnanAliAfzal then they're deliberately impersonating them, right down to claiming to have the same permissions that previous socks have edit-warred to request. A newly created account with several similarities to recent Adnan socks:

  • Initially the same editing interests with a large topical overlap (although the user has now moved on to movie-announcing articles): all first edits in D A V Public School, Tanda, Hira Public School, Hazi Azimulhaq Pahalwan, Musepur Kalan, Uttar Pradesh, Mokalpur, Uttar Pradesh have been in articles, that have been created or disrupted by Adnan socks.
  • Disruptive / incorrect usage of protection requests - see for example [6], similar to Smartsport and other Adnan socks.
  • Message to Adnan sock Captain! Adnan here: [7]. However, that particular sock never had any edits outside userspace - so I wonder how that contact was possible from a truely independent new account.
  • Almost error-free article creations, and usage of advanced features like redirects and page protections, indicate that this is not a new user.

The evidence might not be 100 percent conclusive, but shows a lot of similarities and oddities. Considering the vast amount of recent socking from the original sockmaster, 13 accounts by now, a CU might also be a good idea to check for potential sleepers. Several similarities and connections to other Adnan socks:

  • [9], including the unique village name "Bhoolepur, Ambedkar Nagar" in the "Welcome" message, is a copy/paste from the source text in [10], the talkpage of a previous Adnan sock.
  • Topical overlap with other socks, regarding Hira Public School, Hazi Azimulhaq Pahalwan and villages near Hanswar like the newly created Makrahi, Ambedkar Nagar
  • Creation of new redirects to village articles - most new users wouldn't even know the function.

  • Hmm, he created Ahan Shetty, (link only available to admins) which is a bit puffery-laden: "He wants to pursue his career in acting and is working hard for it. He loves singing and is a lead singer and guitarist in one of the famous music bands." That article was previously created by a sock of Rinku125, but I don't get the immediate sense that they're writing about the same person. Might just be a coincidence. I first encountered this suspected sock after seeing this edit where he appears to inflate an Indian film's gross without updating a reference. Definitely suspicious. Also, I don't know anything about Defaultsort-ing, but I don't know if "{{DEFAULTSORT:LOHGFI}}" is the right call for "List of highest-grossing Indian films". Why, just the transposition of Indian films for "FI" is weird. I also note this where he removes a redirect template and a page protection template...  Blocked and tagged - Based on the intersections with other socks and his questionable editing, which included financial vandalism, removal of important page templates, questionable "mastery" of DEFAULTSORT by a brand new user, redirects by a brand-new user, puffery-laden articles including at Karan Deol, I believe he's probably a sock of this guy, and that he's not here for constructive purposes. His his writing at Karan Deol was a real peach copy-pasted from somewhere. I found it in a YouTube description and a Facebook page.   • Similar interest in Hira Public School, with edit requests and deletion of semi-protection templates.
  • Although I don't have access to deleted images to be sure, the image on User:085!S! looks like the same kid from previous selfie uploads (iirc).
  • Detailed knowledge of Wikipedia userboxes, article protection and templating (not a new user).

  1. Topical overlap: Especially Azimulhaq Pahalwan and Hira Public School - these 2 low-traffic articles are almost entirely edited by Adnan socks.
  2. Knowledge of Wikipedia coding, signature formatting and protection templates (not a new user)
  3. Fiddling with needless or wrong disambiguation (see recent moves)
  4. Creation shortly after the last Adnan sock was blocked, 5 days later.

  •  Blocked and tagged - Thanks for the report, GJ and the comments, Lemon. I notice some Pasadena, CA IPs circulating at Hira Public School in the 8.37.225.* range. That's weird. Might not be anything, but I notice that many of the IPs in this range are editing Indian subjects almost to the exclusion of any other subject. @SpacemanSpiff: I found some evidences to link "Cyber Power" to S..Yash and few more users (Sock farm AdnanAliAfzal):
  • Cyber Power's first edit was to recreate Karan Deol which earlier created by S..Yash but this time Cyber Power made it a redirect and the use of Thanks is common in both users.
  • with 4GFLY: Both user created thier userpage with Wikipedia Is My LiFe in bold.
  • with Fly Up: The use of capital "I" when writing is ([18][19]).

I'd noticed the Karan Deol thing, but didn't get a chance to look more in detail. Them's some good notes, GSS! The boldface on the userpage is odd. Also, they basically welcomed themself on their own talk page with the giant list of helpful links. Account was created shortly after the last Adnan-sock was blocked, and continues in exactly the same areas: Same interest in Indian MLA politicians (compare Nadeem Javed with the older Azimulhaq Pahalwan created by Adnan-sock EnterShip: both articles are nearly identical aside from the person-specific values. An article for Nadeem Javed was recently prepared by another Adnan sock named AAS-786, see deletion message for Commons:Category:Nadeem Javed. The user also updated the image link for the sock-created Wikidata entry on Nadeem Javed (not a new user, and clearly knowledgeable about all sock creations in that area). Another similarity are articles and (wrong) redirects promoting upcoming non-notable Indian movies and actors, see Ahan Shetty: this redirect was initially created by another Adnan-sock and has just been deleted by SpacemanSpiff.   • Just for ease of comparison: This version of the current Nadeem Javed article is very similar to this deleted version (only admins will be able to see this) in general structure, down to an extraneous space between "has been a member of the" and "[[Sixteenth Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh]]". Also, early changes to common.js file is unheard of for brand new user, early creation of User page to avoid redlink, added Twinkle by day 5? Has Huggle preferences set up the same day? And here they remove "Attitude Captain" from their display title formatting. Previous incarnations of this sock referred to himself as Captain Avenger! and Captain! Adnan and Captain Smart! He also seems to like exclamations. Quack. I'm pulling the plug on this. I still endorse a CU since there are typically a few accounts being used. Some things don't make a whole lot of sense. At Draft:Sandbox 6, he was creating a draft article on the Super Splendor motorcycle, which obviously already exists. I assume that should be deleted. Gurjitsinghghuman's first edit was to create a page in a sandbox last November about their business [21], then nothing further for six months. Then, two days ago, recreates Super Singh in that sandbox [22], then copypastes it to Super Singh (2017), for some reason. I've just moved that to Super Singh, but now see that both article titles have a history of sockpuppetry. Super Singh (2017) was deleted G5 this February by User:Nick, citing User:Aboutindianmovies as a sock of puppeteer User:Theactingeeker. Super Singh was G5'd by User:SpacemanSpiff in Sept 2016 and this January, as G5 Mass deletion of pages added by User:Cyber Power, currently listed as a confirmed sock of this puppeteer. Created Ritesh Pandey which was previously deleted G5 (no master named). A discussion at User talk:GSS-1987#Massage From User:Fly Up shows Fly Up to be a previously interested party in this article, also a previously CU'd sock of AdnanAliAfzal. Based on the technical evidence and the account's history I conclude that Abhisintu (talk · contribs) is not an AdnanAliAfzal sock, however they may be the second (non-sock) account of another user who stopped using their first account and is not blocked (who it is isn't important at this point). @Ivanvector: I don't think it's Awardpunjabi, the topics are differentiated by language. This one reminds me of an account I blocked before -- Manishsinghbagi and for some reason I think I blocked a sock farm with similar behavior but I can't seem to find it. On a different note as we did discuss Awardpunjabi, the new geolocates are unlikely to match the old ones as I think he's moved location or something as I've seen differently geolocating IPs exhibiting the same behavior. —SpacemanSpiff 03:20, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's very curious to me that this account created Truck Driver 2 a few days ago with a {{pp-semi}} tag, and with dated maintenance banners from October 2016 and November 2015, like they pulled the page from a deletion mirror, but I can't connect this to any deleted articles here. What is going here with me? I created the article because it full fills all the conditions of wikipedia. The page Allen Career Institute, Kota that I created was with new content but It was soon deleted with the reason that I can't create a page which was previously deleted. The page that was deleted had fault. The AdnanAliAfzal connection is probably coincidental, but please see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Priyanshu8298/Archive. Per the information on his new userpage, that's an obvious sock of this old account - unfortunately also with similar promotional and disruptive edits.
