Suspected sockpuppets

IP has been used after Bull-Doser was indefintely blocked. Bull-Doser is known for his contributions related to radio stations, cars and shopping centres. [1]. The IP is editing these exact same topics.[2] The edit summaries are very similar as well. Most importantly, IP writes the same way as Bull-Doser. He typically uses the terminology "by" instead of "in" for dates. For example: "By June 2012" instead of "In June 2012". [3] [4]. Finally, Bull-Doser's talk page give hints that he would evade his block, most likely on November 3, 2012. That's the date the IP has started editing.

I don't know if this IP is a static one. But I firmly believe it should be blocked for a long time because WP:DUCK indicates it is indisputably Bull-Doser. --> Farine (talk) 00:33, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Edits are indeed quacking sufficiently. Public info on the IP says that its static, and it looks like it's only Bull-doser editing on it, so I've blocked it for two weeks.--Elen of the Roads (talk) 01:58, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See my userpage for where Farine reported this. Edits replicate Bull-Doser's earlier edits, this editor and Bull-Doser stopped editing as soon as I posted on Scotmail's talkpage. Checkuser has them in the same location but different ISP, but the editing similarity is sufficient for a block. Recording here in case Bull-Doser requests a further unblock. It should be fairly easy to see if this is another IP sock of Bull-Doser. Editing began by undoing Bull-Doser-related edits by User:Elen of the Roads Shawn in Montreal (talk) 00:46, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think 80.82.68.249 is Bull-Doser/Scotmail. While it's true that 80.82.68.249 did reverted Elen's edits to reinstate Scotmail's version, its editing of Shada tend to make me think it is not Bull-Doser. It doesn't seem like a topic of interest to Bull-Doser. However, Scotmail is Bull-Doser. Farine (talk) 01:12, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Even if we assume it is block evasion from this IP, there is little I think that should be done at this point. The IP is ostensibly static, but it may not belong to the same user anymore. Also, if true, this IP would put Bull on a different continent than previously. Someguy1221 (talk) 06:25, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Clerk note: the IP address is registered to Nanihost, a VPS provider. Additionally it is worth noting that it seems to be running a webserver (although with no content) and has in the past been picked up by projecthoneypot as a possible spambot. It is a possible proxy server, or perhaps a private VPN. Please feel free to report this address again if you see any subsequent abuse from it. SpitfireTally-ho! 06:49, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

Account was created immediately after talk page of the main account was protected for a year. [5] [6] Aside from the obvious similarity in topics for radio stations and shopping malls as well the same terminology used in edit summaries, DroleDesHits inserted an info with this edit on the KLLY article that Bull-Doser wanted to be inserted last December. [7] Also, Droledeshits reinstated Bull-Doser's edit that got the main account blocked in the first place about the station no longer having a Top 40 format. [8] [9]. Another trademark of Bull-Doser is that he likes to used the word "By" in front in dates, for example "By July 2013" (instead of "In July 2013). [10] [11]

Since this is not the first time that this user is engaged in sock-puppetry, I recommend that this recent SP activity to be documented on either the main account's userpage, the talkpage, or ideally both the userpage and talkpage. And if the IP adress that was used to create the Droledeshits account is 76.65.146.69, I recommend that it is blocked because it was already used to evade the block last November [12], thus meaning that the IP is quite static and can easily take a 6 month block (if not more) with little chance to penalize an innocent unrelated editor. This is obviously the same user, evading his block. I've blocked the sock, but would suggest a clerk flag this for a Checkuser to see if a hardblock of the IP is warranted, and to see if there are any sleepers. --Floquenbeam (talk) 16:17, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Clerk note: Given the length of time since the last sockpuppet, I don't think it's very likely that there are any sleeper accounts, or that an IP block is necessary at this time. Obviously, if sockpuppetry becomes more rampant, a check will be warranted. Closing for now. Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:43, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Based on behavior, but it's very clear. I'm editing the archive directly as I've already deal with this, but noting it here for posterity. --Floquenbeam (talk) 00:26, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Per above, this is just a record for posterity. I've increased the talk page protection to indefinite. --Floquenbeam (talk) 00:26, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I know it sounds stupid, but I forgot I'm a Checkuser now. So just to be perfectly clear, these IP reports are not based on CU, but on behavior alone. --Floquenbeam (talk) 01:58, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

10 February 2014[edit]

This is the latest activity by Bull-Doser, a blocked user who has been evading on several occasions now, the last occurrence being on New Year's Day. [13] [14]. The sockpuppetry is easily recognizable due to an obvious interest in cars and radio station related articles and the terminology used in the edit summaries. [15] [16] [17] [18]] [19] [20]. Most importantly, the IP inserted images uploaded by Bull-Doser on Wikimedia Commons on the Toyota 4Runner article [21] [22] as well as on the Dodge Caravan article also uploaded by him. [23] [24]

Given that the IP appear to still be used, I recommend blocking it. Also since this user has been involved in sock-puppetry for quite some time, would it be possible to document this incident on the talk page of his main account as well as placing the {{sockmaster}} tag on his user page. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Farine (talkcontribs)

The intent of this report is more to document this latest sockpuppetry activity than to actually block the IP. Given that only one edit as been recently made by the IP, I'll leave it at the discretion of the clerk as to whether it should be blocked or not.

The IP has the same topic interest than Bull-Doser which are cars and radio stations. [25] [26]. On the edit summary of the Chrysler article, the IP wrote the word "done" in caps letter. [27]. Bull-Doser has an history of writting edit summaries in cap locks. [28] [29] On the Chrysler article, the IP changed the company type of the infobox. Bull-Doser is known for a fascination about changing the company type on infoboxes. [30] [31]

But the most obvious evidence is that Bull-Doser likes to use the word "By" to refer to date (eg:"By 2014" instead of "In 2014") and his obsession for documenting radio station formats based on the Mediabase organization. [32] [33] [34] [35] Farine (talk) 04:22, 23 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have also discovered this IP adress 72.188.181.10. No action needed since it hasn't been used on Wikipedia since January 2014. But always good to document in record. Farine (talk) 06:38, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

information Administrator note I think per WP:DUCK we can conclude this is the same editor. I'm blocking it for a month to match the month of activity that this has been used for block evasion. -- Atama 17:48, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
