Suspected sockpuppets

On Nov 7 the page Ashley Storrie was brought up for AfD Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ashley_Storrie, of which Elinoria was heavily involved in. Mysteriously on that same day CandleClove account is created.

  • One of their first actions was create a sandbox copy of the AfD article diff referencing it is up for deletion.
  • Of the handful of articles they edit, most edit summaries 3-words-or-less, except for the edits made to the Sorrie article which some of them are like full sentences, consistent with master. They also both curiously use parenthetical comments - sock diff.
  • They have this curious conversation on their talk page.
  • The socks' biggest contribution to other articles is similar to the master around the same timeframe, such as cleanup of wikilinks, especially more than basic ones, such as :
  • Interactions on the Storrie article [1], especially on 11-08, show that Master is editing periodically for a few hours (until 2059) and then the sock picks up undisrupted for a half hour, before the master resumes.
    • During that time master was making a lot of edit summaries reference "ref", and sock also made a "ref" adjustment.
  • A bit more circumstantial:
    • Other support includes the same edit tags: Mobile edit Mobile web edit Advanced mobile edit
    • This new user had an edit summary of simply "ce" diff which is somewhat surprising for a new user, just like the master has used many times
    • Since their last edit was on Nov 9, where they again edited the sandbox article, and have been gone ever since.

Admittedly most of this evidence is mostly because it WP:QUACK like a duck. It might not be the case of the master having two accounts, but rather the sock might either be a shared account or the third form of puppetry Using another person's account (piggybacking). While not overtly disruptive, this does not appear to meet any of the criteria of WP:GOODSOCK. TiggerJay (talk) 22:12, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
