Suspected sockpuppets


Gibnews appears to have resorted to another user account to continue a disagreement on the Gibraltar article and to contribute to the discussion on the talk page. Note this new account was created and the very first edit was to make this reversion. [1] The same reversion that Gibnews was making a couple of hours earlier.

Note the similarity of the language ("restore..important.."), and also Gutterbrothers' familiarity with what one might say are Wikipedia "non-beginner" features such as the WP:POINT page [2] and how to hyperlink with alternative text.

Gibnews is a long-time editor and knows very well the rules about 3RR (he has been blocked twice before).

I am also requesting a checkuser as Gibnews is denying that it is him, so the only way it will be settled is with a checkuser. If both IPs emanate from Gibraltar, that would be pretty conclusive evidence that it is either a sock or a meatpuppet.

This is nonsense, The Red Hat of Pat Ferrick deleted an significant item on the Gibraltar page and commented that he expected a reaction from me.

He is making false accusations of sockpuppetry to further his trolling. I have no idea who 'Gutterbrothers' is but its not me! There would have been no need for me to revert his vandalism again, as there are plenty of other editors who feel the same way, which the The talk page shows. --Gibnews (talk) 13:35, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I found this page by looking at TRHOPF's contibs tab it would have been nice to have got PM about it. Is I said elsewhere I'm pretty certain that I'm not GibNews. I looked at TRHOPF's 'talk' page and he seem a rather arrogant and intolerant individual who loves to throw accusations about. He also has decided to revert some of my other edits either without explanation or with the rather rude 'Learn to Spell' when correcting a minor (one letter) typo. The quote on his page seems to sum him up pretty well "the encyclopaedia that anyone can edit, but that not everyone should." hardly in the spirit of Wiki Gutterbrothers (talk) 14:38, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can't say I was aware of that, Red Hand seems on the basis of a day's acquaintance to be a classic internet Troll/'hardman', Gibnews might be rather over protective of the Gib article. Gutterbrothers (talk) 19:49, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

Definitely something fishy going on at Gibraltar.

We had a newly registered user (Gutterbrothers) getting involved in a disagreement between me and Gibnews. I wrongly (according to the checkuser - I am still suspicious of meatpuppetry) thought Gibnews was Gutterbrothers. But the checkuser revealed Gutterbrothers to be operating several accounts

We now see a new user, Tragino, with a similar interest in military articles to all the accounts operated by Gutterbrothers, now post on the article talk page alongside Gutterbrothers, also wrongly calling me "Red Hand".

Pretty unlikely two completely different editors with exactly the same interest list and exactly the same arrival time at the Gibraltar talk page would both accidentally mistype my username in the same way.

I contend that Gutterbrothers is operating more than one account with a view to swinging the talk page debate.
