Suspected sockpuppets


Suspected master is blocked for stealth vandalism and personal attacks. Edits primarily involved changes in ages, dates, and chronology, e.g. [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7]; nearly always unsourced and often to the point of being unusual or redundant. Interested mostly in music BLPs and aviation. Suspected sock is also unusually interested in ages [8], [9] dates [10], [11], [12], [13], [14], and years [15], [16]. Like the suspected master, the focus is on making questionable unsourced additions to music articles, occasionally aviation articles, and nearly all the edits are made from mobile platforms.

Also, their behavior in the MH-17 article overlaps. Suspected master added crew ages and mention of passengers under 18, [17], [18]; suspected sock reinstates one edit and mimics others with [19] and [20].

Sequential "as of" updates of the same locus of LOT Flight 5055

LiamDino98 changes "as of 2014" in an article to "as of 2015" [22]. The very next edit in the article's history is SuzieShark updating to "as of 2016" [23]. Of note is the fact that SuzieShark's update took place on 2 January, and the article has not been edited since then. Liam-dino extensively edited the same article earlier, but I'm not sure if they did anything with that specific text. Geogene (talk) 22:44, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Admin action needed - I think there's enough evidence to call them ducks. The editing is really similar (minor changes to dates, editing similar articles – in particular between master and SuzieShark, see [33]). Their average editing times are also very similar, at 16:43, 15:47, and 15:17. I think there's enough to call SuzieShark a duck.   • information Administrator note  Blocked but awaiting tags. I'll leave the tagging up to you. I initially intended just stepped in to get the block in since the account was still editing. However, when I was looking at the article, another account caught my eye. Dawit Tesfa. Same pattern appears: mobile editing; fixation on flight articles; edits articles about fictional characters; short minor changes to music/musician related articles. The account is stale but I think  Looks like a duck to me is clear in this case as well. I believe [this] is reasonable grounds for a CU here to look for sleepers considering this new evidence.   • @Bbb23: No problem. I thought perhaps that because we were able to tie a number of accounts to a master around a timeline last year, and that we now have one account non-stale account where they've re-emerged, that it would be enough to warrant a check on a master previously connected with creating multiple successive sock puppets. You're correct that there isn't anything "current" that indicates upon this return that they've resorted to more sock puppetry, and merely only their return.
