Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Account leaps into AfD of the Tamil Genocide the same day the account was created. Thamilaneelam an account with only 12 edits since 2020 and had been inactive since 2021 also activated just to vote in the AfD so its a possible WP:SLEEPER

Beastmastah who engaged in canvassing off-wiki for meatpuppets before has opened new calls in reddit for meatpuppets to control the AfDs and RfCs even after the accounts were blocked so there is the implication they are still involved through socks.

Another account which also calls for meatpuppets in reddit and another in Quora which has previously requested meatpuppets to protect pages that had been recently created by Okiloma from deletion.

There is a strong implication that sockmasters are still involved in the AfDs and RfCs despite the blocks and the new accounts are possibly their socks or at least meatpuppets. It was also noted by @Kashmiri: before.

There is enough WP:DUCK going on... UtoD 05:33, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also added ALKBH5 another less than 10 day old account with the 3rd edit leaping straight into the AfD. -UtoD 12:54, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Another new account called Louis2850 coming straight to the talk page of the same page but it appears it missed AfD page and tried to put a keep vote in the article's talk page which is likely a confused meatpuppet than a sockpuppet. -UtoD 21:22, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Another meatpuppet recruitment by reddit user for AfD for a page Okiloma was involved in. -UtoD 18:15, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There are too many days passing between edits for typical socking. Smells like meatpuppetry / off-wiki canvassing to me. — kashmīrī TALK 15:40, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Okiloma was blocked on May 11, 2024 and stopped requesting an unblock on the same day after multiple socks were confirmed. Oz346 has a massive editor overlap, with both accounts being Tamil genocide SPAs. This includes Oz346 responding to talk page comments directed at Okiloma. — MarkH21talk 15:30, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for getting the order wrong. Oz346 is an older account than Okiloma (and the confirmed socks of Okiloma so far). This report would need to be moved to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Oz346. — MarkH21talk 15:52, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the comment saying that I was responding to comments directed at the now banned Okiloma, that is false. I was particularly responding to the bogus statement by the now topic banned Cossde, who claimed that PhD theses are not reliable enough to be cited. Cossde has been arguing this same argument with me in the past, and has already been apprised that PhD theses can be cited according to Wikipedia policy [1]. Yet he continued to be obstructive, and this irked me enough to comment. I was following this page for a while before commenting (I do not relish getting in pointless, time consuming arguments with Cossde who was following me like a shadow every time I edited) [2]. In any case, I support a timely SPI check here just to exonerate my name. Oz346 (talk) 13:28, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @MarkH21 for this report. I noticed the overlap several weeks ago and I'm certain I even posted somewhere (can't find it atm) that a SPI report will be forthcoming about these accounts, however I never came round to actually filing it. I fully support your observations, and similarly I'm concerned with the absurd amount of meatpuppetry and/or obvious off-wiki canvassing (just see the sheer number of SPAs at WP:Articles for deletion/Tamil genocide). Unfortunately, the Tamil genocide article is a disruption magnet as in its current form it only serves as an ethnic/political WP:SOAPBOX, full of unsourced / poorly sourced (and sometimes ridiculous) claims, all of which is the work of the listed accounts. Not much can be done in view of a concerted effort by those accounts and SPAs.

For the record, I consider this meatpuppetry. Petextrodon has been shown as unrelated to Oz346 (Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Oz346/Archive), even though their overlap / interaction timeline is unusually tight [3]. — kashmīrī TALK 15:17, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have no connections with these users outside common topic interest within Wikipedia. In fact I strongly disagree with the edit history of banned user Okiloma and had I coordinated with them off-Wiki I would have advised them to stop their repeated plagiarism. My only interaction with them was partially reverting their edit last year. I have never interacted with Dowrylauds. I wasn't even online thus wasn't aware of the ANI report when this user defended me unsolicited. Since I have nothing to hide I'm not opposed to admins checking. It's true certain Sri Lanka-related articles have attracted a spate of new SPAs from both sides and suspicions are running high with the chances of collateral damage just as high.---Petextrodon (talk) 20:47, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
