Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Quite certain that SSH remoteserver has more socks around Wikipedia right now, due to similar edits and behaviour exhibited by a few users. What SSH remoteserver and their socks were known for was:

  1. Editing articles solely about Myanmar (Burma) topics
  2. Assuming bad faith and having a battleground attitude with other editors, accusing them of being anti-Burmese, either because they were "racist" or because they were (in particular, Chinese) "chauvinists"
  3. Implying on article talk pages that there is great conspiracy by the Chinese government to hire editors to spread "anti-Burmese" content on the English Wikipedia
  4. Attacking other users (including veteran editors like myself) and accusing them of being paid by the Chinese government
  5. Creating a blank user page shortly after the account is created

Both SSH remoteserver and JordanKSM are already blocked, but I am quite certain the latter is a sock of the former. Stress theorist was also dormant since 11 May 2021, but suddenly started editing again and making the same arguments on Talk:Aung San and the same conspiracy theories as JordanKSM as soon as JordanKSM was permanently blocked for personal attacks. And if that's not enough, after JordanKSM was blocked, they pinged Stress theorist on their talk page for thoughts on the matter, even though they have never had an interaction with each other on the site and Stress theorist had been dormant for over a year prior to the ping. Pak Thais meanwhile also has a very specific fixation on alleged examples of anti-Burmese sentiments from Chinese people, having prepared but never finished a draft in their sandbox about a revisionist conspiracy supposedly held by a wide number of Chinese in Myanmar. Pinging @Canterbury Tail and Materialscientist as they were the two admins who dealt with JordanKSM and SSH remoteserver, respectively, and the behavioural evidence should be familiar to them. @Canterbury Tail, Girth Summit, and Materialscientist: Well I just got a lovely email (screenshot on Imgur) from a throwaway email address calling me racial slurs and threatening to find me in person and kill me. I can forward the email if requested, but I am sure that would accomplish little as I cannot prove that it was actually from the blocked user, although this investigation is known to very few people and the email was sent shortly after the socks were blocked. Just giving a heads up that this editor is indeed malicious and threatening long-term abuse, although judging from JordanKSM's claim that they edited under a different original account from 2009 to 2017, long-term abuse already seems to be the case. @Girth Summit: Some more behavioural evidence for Pak Thais if you're interested:
  • Pak Thais and Stress theorist make the same removal to the article Aung San, both mistakenly believing that "Chin", meaning the Chin people, is referring to Chinese people: Pak Thai's and Stress theorist's edits (also check Stress theorist's comments on Talk:Aung San)
  • Both have a problem with the coverage of communism in the article Aung San (see their edit summaries)
  • Both have a problem with a specific source in the article authored by someone surnamed Nay
  • Both remove massive amounts of text from Myanmar-related articles without prior consensus (examples: [1] & [2])
Of course Pak Thais has been dormant for quite some time now, but I would not be surprised if it suddenly started editing again and parroted the same personal attacks and conspiracies as the blocked socks. If action right now is not appropriate, I would keep an eye out and be prepared to act as I do not find myself and other editors being harassed on Wikipedia to be a very enjoyable experience. As a non-admin, I obviously do not know and cannot be told the IP address of the sockpuppeteer which was determined by the checkuser, but for the record, I am quite certain it is 73.170.255.4 given the anonymous editor's identical behaviour and choice of articles to edit. Here is a new table comparing the IP's edits to the blocked socks'. Yue🌙 00:15, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
