Suspected sockpuppets

Tag team edit warring on David Record history. Olexazale at 7:23 [1], Kiran567 at 9:20 [2], 9:21 [3], 9:24 [4], Olexazale at 9:31 [5], 9:32 [6], 9:34 [7], 9:35 [8]. (May be more in the adding of images. Kiran567 [9]. Olexazale[10].)

Tag team spam linking at Unsecured debt. Olexazale [11], [12], [13] Kiran567 [14], [15]

Editing adverts for VINTIK & Co. Olexazale at User:Olexazale/sandbox history. Kiran567 at Vintik history. (Side note, User:Vintikco who created Vintik is a clear username violation)

Shared editing at HappyBird. Olexazale [16]. Kiran567 [17]. Sibtain 007 [18]

Shared editing for Kunal Sood. Kiran567 Diffs not available due to deletion but see [19]. Sibtain 007 [20]

Shared editing for Laura Sullivan (composer). Kiran567 [21]. Sibtain 007 [22] [23] (Just after creation by Kiran567

Adding thebesty.com to articles. Olexazale [24] [25] and more. Kiran567 [26] [27]. Sibtain 007 [28] [29] [30].

With ~30 and ~60 edits and so much overlap, especially both adding thebesty.com to Selena Gomez and Lady Gaga on the 10 Feb, Olexazale and Kiran567 are quacking loudly. The overlap with Sibtain is not as clear but appears too large to be coincidence.

There is other SPAs that also have suspiciously overlapping interests and timing so a CU may be appropriate. duffbeerforme (talk) 05:14, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

Lala4567 is a sock of Olexazale [37] "This is my account", "My this account is blocked".
Olexazale created a sandbox at User:Olexazale/sandbox. After being blocked as a sockpuppet xe started editing at 19:31 18th Feb [38]. Then three more times [39] [40] [41], all trying to delete it and then gets a level 4 warning. Olexazale comments at 20:50 [42] asking to have the sandbox deleted. Jessionewiki, whose only edit before that day was at Laura Sullivan (composer), a creation of Sibtain 007 socks, comes along and at 22:06 [43] moves the sandbox into article space (as previous sock Kiran567 had done with other socks sandboxes).

With the later creation of another article on Michael Arnstein this may go back to User:Nickaang. duffbeerforme (talk) 12:53, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

May already be setting up sleepers. Zoodick. duffbeerforme (talk) 13:43, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

information Administrator note Lala4567, as a self-declared sockpuppet account, made with the avowed purpose of evading a block on another account, has been indefinitely blocked. Before I knew of this sockpuppet investigation, I was already suspicious that was a sockpuppet, and after finding this page I have compared that account's editing with that of the confirmed socks. In addition to the evidence given above, I have seen a number of similarities, none of them in itself big enough to convict, but all together they amount to too much of a coincidence. Amongst other things, Jessionewiki has: edited Laura Sullivan (composer), also edited by Sibtain 007 and by 4 other confirmed Sibtain 007 socks; moved and edited the now deleted Vintik, which was created by a confirmed Sibtain 007 sock and edited by another one; created an article by editing and then moving a sandbox of another Sibtain 007 sock, which has been done before by Sibtain 007 socks. I am close to blocking on the basis of what I have seen, but I would like to see a CheckUser report if possible, both for confirmation of this account and, in view of the extensive history of sockpuppetry, in case of sleepers or other as yet unidentified socks. Suspected sockpuppets

I came across this user via an article up for PROD and a look at the article John Louis Muratori showed that the current version is identical to an earlier version by User:Jessionewiki, who is a confirmed sock of User:Sibtain 007. I had blocked the user as a suspected sock and tagged it as a block evasion speedy, but I've had a request for an official SPI investigation. This quacks of WP:DUCK so loudly it's deafening. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:52, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think that it'd be worth doing a look for sleeper accounts. This one looks like it slipped notice from the previous round of checks so I don't necessarily think that there are active-active ones, but there might be others that didn't get noticed. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:11, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've also added User:Laloavalos2000, as their primary edits have been to Facial water. The only other edits were a few test-type edits to Cosmetics. It's possible that this isn't a sock so I haven't blocked them, but it seems potentially likely. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:17, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Brand-new editor Kockpeter's creation of a sandbox which known-sock Poiluyre (talk · contribs) recently moved to Ark Sciences. (which I moved to Ark Sciences) is a dead giveaway. An earlier version of Ark Sciences was G5'd on 2 March 2014. Request a check for sleepers and accounts with too few edits to call openly accuse in an SPI, paying particular attention to new accounts that have edited the same page(s) as Kockpeter and Poiluyre. The "potty mouth" similarity between this username and some of the other socks (e.g. Zoodick) is also suspicious. These are a series of new accounts which look like socks creating promo items. Connected to Sibtain 007 through Bazinga!, Laura Sullivan and Kunal Sood. Editing and reviewing each others work. Typical behaiviour of Create article in sandbox, create short 1 sentance user page so it's not redlinked, make some token edits such, mainly linking article. Wait until autoconfirmed then move sandbox to mainspace. ([44] [45] [46], [47], [48]. All role accounts creating a single article, all patroled by Johny 547.). The timeframe and the large overlap on a small number of edits is not coincidental. There is some clear promotion and socking or collussion going on here.

A comment on Johny 547. Appeared in January 2014. First 7 edits then, most connected to subjects edited by Sibtain 007. Then disappears and comes back in June as a good hand account. Does page patrolling to look like a good editor. Problem is there is a too large an overlap with these new account creating fully formed promo pieces. The edits to these are most often benign tags that can easily be fixed. [61], [62], [63], [64], [65] (all the same and all articles created by role accounts using the same sandox, wait, autoconfirm, move.) All quickly "fixed" [66], [67], [68], [69], [70]. Similar [71] -> [72]. Also [73] from Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Paid editing? Socking?. Glenn Cooper may be another, more subtle one, tagging for speedy G4 when G4 does not apply. duffbeerforme (talk) 07:40, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Thesoundkillers/Archive#17 April 2014 - at least one editor named above was named as being related to Thesoundkillers but cleared by a checkuser with the comment

"This group is technically Red X Unrelated to each other (both geographically and by user agent) and also unrelated to the previous group of confirmed socks. Perhaps this is co-ordinated editing? Risker (talk) 19:02, 18 April 2014 (UTC)" (1st emphasis original, 2nd emphasis added)

This connection may invite ongoing scrutiny even if, like the Thesoundkillers case of 17 April, checkuser proves the named individuals are not the same people. Risker, do you have any comments? davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:09, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have an issue with grouping User:Georgiasouthernlynn with the bulk of these accounts, which seems unlikely. User:Jpworth3rd is likely to be a sock or collaborator with Georgiasouthernlynn, but my notes have Georgiasouthernlynn as a separate editor to the rest. The main connection is with the National Society of Leadership and Success, who have been hiring editors for some time, for both editing of the main page and the creation of the biographies. Georgiasouthernlynn and MurtazaHus are likely to have both been hired by the same client. (I'll confirm this later today). Probably worth a look, but I think that will prove to be a separate issue. - Bilby (talk) 03:25, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've checked - I don't have any records of the Vanna Bonta job, but it wouldn't be particularly unusual for multiple people to be hired for it. Two people were hired for the National Society of Leadership and Success job - one was Georgiasouthernlynn, so the other could have been MurtazaHus. I think that would explain the connection, though. I'd treat Jpworth3rd & Georgiasouthernlynn as a separate group. - Bilby (talk) 12:32, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, first, I only just today became aware of this investigation. I think it would have been courteous to let me know about it. Jpworth3rd and I are not a sock puppet. We are *married* (for god's sake) and interested in the same things, rather naturally, I think. I don't know any of these other users you have accused from squat. They are not my accounts nor my husband's. Melpon created Vegas Weddings which User:Mamadoutadioukone was working on in a sandbox before they were blocked. General editing patterns are also very similar - i.e. creating obvious paid articles on non-notable subjects. As you can see here they also cross over with Kaledit at VidCruiter.

OneoNater displays a similar behaviour in general and specifically to Mamadoutadioukone by creating articles in sandboxes with very similar titles e.g. User:Mamadoutadioukone/sandbox/SMB User:Mamadoutadioukone/sandbox/MTL (any others) and User:OneoNater/sandbox/YA.

Is it possible to see if there are any other accounts linked to these two? SmartSE (talk) 21:55, 24 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have also added Svenstpaul who is editing in a similar manner and specifically editing Troy Fodemski (including removing the COI template) which User:Greg115 created, who was blocked as a sock of Mamadoutadioukone. SmartSE (talk) 19:32, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And Bouake123 who I found has a Wikipedia Portfolio at dewiki which is almost exactly the same as this one in Mamadoutadioukone's sandbox. SmartSE (talk) 19:46, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Rahfatsalman created Godinterest which is listed in the portfolio linked above. They also created Draft:Kashif Saleem which Reusha 007 then used to create Kashif Saleem (CEO). SmartSE (talk) 20:21, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Skyheight23 has been working on Adobe Creative Cloud (also listed in the portfolio) and using similar sandboxes: User:Skyheight23/sandbox/ACC. SmartSE (talk) 21:55, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've added Bostonscribe to the list. Bostonscribe has also been working with identical sandboxes, using the same style and conventions, and also has been working on an Adobe article in a sandbox: [74]. There is additional off-wiki evidence, but the style similarities and Adobe relationship should be enough. - Bilby (talk) 13:04, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk endorsed. I'm endorsing this partly to possibly clear up some confusion (at least in my mind) as to who is the master of some of these accounts and if there is more than one master despite the apparent overlap in MO. At the same time, among the accounts listed (several other accounts are referred to in the evidence), the oldest is Rahfatsalman, not the master. I'll wait for the CU to see if anything needs to be done about that.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:48, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, I don't know. Sibtain and his confirmed socks are all stale. PhilKnight (talk) 21:40, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Following your email, on the basis that Opellured is a confirmed sock of Sibtain, groups 1 and 2 are unrelated to Sibtain. PhilKnight (talk) 22:38, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Based on the clarifications, I am going to assume that none of the listed accounts is a puppet of Sibtain. With that in mind, my hope is I'll work on this tomorrow as (a) I'm operating on very little sleep and (b) I have off-wiki plans.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:59, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I moved this open report to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Mamadoutadioukone with the intention of blocking those accounts related to that master (Group 1 above). I was unaware of how the Wiki software worked and thought I could keep the history of both masters' pages. I won't go into the gory details, but that wasn't possible. The history at Mamadoutadioukone is, I believe, correct, but the history of this open case has been lost. I am not going to finish clerking this until late next week because I'm leaving on vacation.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:26, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Callanecc: The last group of Sibtain 007 socks was blocked in August 2014. Is it possible that they are actually connected, just that the data is stale? Vanjagenije (talk) 00:20, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's a possibility especially since I was basing it only on location. The connection will definitely need to be behavioural. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 03:25, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

MMSS4S is a promotional editor who tried to hide his COI [77]. CivJiv was found to be "Possilikely" MMSS4S at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sibtain 007. Jlab121 recreated an advert for Randy Sutton, previously created by MMSS4S. Jlab121s editing started [78] (5:50) soon after MMSS4S tried more hiding [79] (4:20) and started with token edits to get autoconfirmed before posting that fully formed advert [80]. Note that admission of "prior COI creation" so a direct connection.

Added Wikiexcite who created Draft:Zachary Barden Bio Draft which is mostly straight from MMSS4S's article for Justin Lafazan. duffbeerforme (talk) 10:25, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Vanjagenije: I've blocked the three accounts named by LFaraone. What (if anything) should be done with Wikiexcite? --NeilN talk to me 13:12, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

All of the old accounts are way past stale so this will have to be based entirely on behavioural evidence. The recreation of Justin Lafazan is what caught my attention as it was first created by the last round of socks, specifically User:MMSS4S [81]. As User:duffbeerforme pointed out in this COIN thread at the time, Mr. Lafazan was advertising a Wikipedia editing package on his website. That in itself isn't so damning, but the articles and drafts they've created so far are exclusively about obscure BLPs and companies of questionable notability which is exactly the same behaviour as previous socks (although admittedly, other undisclosed paid editors as well). As you can see from their earliest edits they also got to handle with wikisyntax extremely quickly, including knowing to add categories and defaultsort to the article and tag the talk page with {{WikiProject Biography}} [82]. I forget to do things like that still, so itis hard to believe they are a newbie, even as they claim, they are a software developer. What do others think? Next Gen Summit, created by Shootingstar, was reviewed by Mr RD who has a history wrt undeclared paid editing. I previously connected MMSS4S to promo editing, probably coordinated with other editors, as described at Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard/Archive_87#Justin_Lafazan. - Brianhe (talk) 09:10, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good spot. Note that that was within 4 minutes of the article being moved to mainspace. SmartSE (talk) 09:34, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Is this investigation going anywhere? - Brianhe (talk) 08:00, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't look it. Funny how after editing nearly every day in March, they stopped as soon as I started this SPI... SmartSE (talk) 08:24, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I was waiting for this investigation to be closed because it is pure nonsense. All the pages I created were reviewed by an editor, and none of them were flagged for "promo editing." Look at all the WP pages I've created. It seems foolish to me that I would be accused of paid editing for notable authors, entrepreneurs and philanthropists, but if you wish - I am happy to stop contributing to WP.
