Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Evidence

  • New account (WarnerAndy) was created about 48 hours after block of master
  • New account goes straight to rather non-newbie edits, such as tweaking a navigation template the master had been recently doing [1]
  • New account placing templates [2], and other uncommon new-editor tasks.
  • Master and WarnerAndy both have compatible timecards for a single individual, with virtually no edits between 0000-0600 UTC
  • The interaction analyzer shows many other common edits, including Miss World 2025, Miss International 2024, Miss USA 2024, Miss Teen USA 2024, Miss Universe 2024, Miss Grand International 2024, Miss and Mister Supranational Korea, Miss Kentucky USA, Miss Kentucky Teen USA, etc.
  • Based on editing history these two look really similar to another sockfarm.

I went ahead and added some more "W" accounts that are virtual SPAs for a single pageant sponsor out of Thailand. Note more evidence:

  • Involvement at an obscure draft here [3]
  • Strong signature of accidental logged-out editing here and here. The last one especially, as it is the anon editing an article that is only ~120 seconds old.

Whoever this group is, I think they are using a Bangkok ISP with frequent and recent pageant editing at both 184.22.228.0/22 and 49.228.228.0/22. IP editing often overlaps various names in this SPI (and others I'm not so sure about). ☆ Bri (talk) 16:51, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New account Wahedimahshad added to case. This account has created 20 new pageant articles in March-April, and nearly all have been edited by Wictoriamalai. Several times they have created an article, then the Wictoriamalai account starts in on it when it's <60 minutes old. Outstanding examples:

  • [4] 4 minutes after creation, and likely an orphan at the time, prior to these de-orphaning edits [5][6][7][8]
  • [9] 5 minutes after creation; also an orphan
  • [10] 5 minutes after creation
  • [11] 6 minutes
  • [12] 7 minutes
  • [13] 8 minutes
  • [14] 9 minutes, when it was an orphan; article was not de-orphaned before it was draftified, as far as I can tell
  • [15] 9 minutes
  • [16] 9 minutes

This is quite unusual unless there's off-wiki coordination, at least. Taken in concert with the other evidence, it's of concern for meatpuppetry or sockpuppetry. Especially when a new account with about 2 dozen relatively minor edits can do all-at-once article creation like [17], which in my experience has always been a sign of socking. ☆ Bri (talk) 21:55, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Confirmed:
  • Wakekigrand and Wikipageant are Red X Unrelated to the above accounts and to each other.
  • I did not investigate Wikigrand as that account was created in 2010 and has no edits.
  • no No comment with respect to IP address(es). Spicy (talk) 21:08, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
