Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

After TankDude2000 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) was blocked they created a quack sockpuppet in TankDude1990 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). This sock was blocked by Cullen328.

Five minutes later WikiManUser21, an account that hadn't edited since Oct 2022, posted "Why did you block me?" To their own talk page. This appears to be a faux pas admission of this being an alt account. Their block log is not showing any previous blocks, so I cannot think what else this could refer to.

Since then WikiManUser21 has resumed editing in the exact same topic areas as TankDude2000, including defaulting to the modus operandi of starting article move discussions,[1][2][3][4] the abuse of which lead to the original block (ANI here). — Czello (music) 20:30, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Spicy and Ponyo: Can you possibly check XAELOR as well? There's been a rotating group of low-edit accounts that pop out of nowhere to demand changes to the history of Libya article that I've long suspected might be one person with multiple accounts. This most recently included WikiManUser21 (diff linked already at [5]), and XAELOR directly did the same controversial move earlier [6], [7]. Additionally, seeing WikiManUser21's interests, XAELOR seems to have the same or at least similar ones, editing on territories / conflicts in the former USSR as well as North Africa & the Middle East (e.g. first edit on [8] Chechen Republic of Ichkeria). I'm not super familiar with WikiManUser21 so apologies in advance if this isn't a perfect match, but seems at least possible, and XAELOR has edited recently enough for this not to be stale (last edit in April). Hmm. I'm going with  Inconclusive for XAELOR based on proxy use. Based on a review of the edits though, I think this is a different person. -- Ponyobons mots 18:13, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

WikipedianRevolutionary (talk · contribs) mentions Wikipedia in its username like WikiManUser21 (talk · contribs) does, WikipedianRevolutionary's edits are mostly focused on moving pages like WikiManUser21's and TankDude2000 (talk · contribs)'s were, similar interests by all three accounts (namely the Russo-Ukrainian War and random civil wars, conflicts, clashes, riots and protests, great focus on the general area of North Africa, the Middle East and other Muslim countries also seems apparent to me), similar edit summaries (edit by WikipedianRevolutionary, notice use of exclamatory marks and of the “” type of quotation marks; [9] [10] edits by TankDude2000 showing use of those two), both WikipedianRevolutionary [11] and TankDude2000 [12] believe in some kind of "decline" that has taken or is taking place in Wikipedia, both stress the fact that they're new [13] [14], chronologically it's perfectly possible as TankDude2000 was blocked in April 2023 and WikiManUser21 in May 2023 while WikipedianRevolutionary was created in July 2023, all of these three accounts mostly make/made mobile edits, and finally I stress again the fact that all three accounts have similar contributions (specially related to moves) and areas of interests. To be honest, many users agree Wikipedia is in a decline. And the exclamatory and quotation marks do not prove anything. Also, I have stopped with moving pages without a discussion. I usually start requesting moves instead of moving directly, although I did move directly sometimes. But I encourage you to assume good faith. A similar style username, and a similar flood of low-quality move requests in controversial geopolitical topics. Signed up soon after the previous sock here was blocked. Walt Yoder (talk) 22:06, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
