A template is not suitable for what is fundamentally an open-ended category. Currently it lists a random selection of paths, including some (but not all) of the official Scotland's Great Trails, and some other routes, e.g. the Old military roads of Scotland, or the Clachlet Traverse. Given that there is free access to all land in Scotland this could in theory be nearly infinite. A category (which exists, see Category:Footpaths in Scotland) is the best way to organise these articles. Grinner (talk) 09:36, 5 July 2018 (UTC)

I'm putting this template up for deletion (despite it being in use) on the grounds that although intended as a pragmatic reponse to a situation of unclear sourcing/authorship it's not necessarily having the desired outcome in that other than a small number of cases, it's not actually assisting in clarifying anything, and is merely "moving the back log around" which is not a sustainable long term solution.
