Atlantis: The Lost Empire is a 2001 American animated film created by Walt Disney Feature Animation – the first science fiction film in Disney's animated features canon and the 41st overall. Set in 1914, the film tells the story of a young man who gains possession of a sacred book, which he believes will guide him and a crew of adventurers to the lost city of Atlantis. At the time of its release, the film had made greater use of computer-generated imagery (CGI) than any of Disney's previous animated features; today it remains one of the few to have been shot in anamorphic format. Atlantis was notable for adopting the distinctive visual style of comic book creator Mike Mignola and for being one of the few Disney animated features to be absent of songs. The film premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California on June 3, 2001, and went into general release on June 15. Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, Atlantis performed modestly at the box office. Budgeted at $100 million, the film grossed over $186 million worldwide. This is my first TFA nomination and I am a significant contributor (1 point). This article was promoted over one year ago in April 2012 (1 point). Covered in 30 other language Wikipedias (2 points). June 11, 2013 is the film's first official Blu-ray release date (I assume it is worth 1 point for this), June 15 is the anniversary of its wide theatrical release so I could request that date if it is believed to be more relevant. This is the first, and as of this writing the only Disney animated film article to make it to FA status, and I could not find a similar film which had been on the main page in 3 months (So I also believe this is worth 1 point). That brings the total to a possible 6 points. I trimmed the blurb down to be more concise and give room to add or edit should someone feel that it needs it.DrNegative (talk) 03:18, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Note: I have shifted the nomination to 15th June, since I found an article with a better claim to 11th June and this has a stronger date relevance for 15th June anyway. 5 points (1st TFA / 1 year old / widely covered / date relevance) - we don't sub-divide by types of film.
