Last week's report | Next week's report

To Infinity and Beyond
Prepared with commentary by Soulbust

As expected, Marvel dominates the list upon the release of their latest event movie, Avengers: Infinity War, that tops the report and brings along entries on its villain (#18), its upcoming sequel (#15), the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole (#7,#16), and even the film set up by the post-credits scene (#6, #24). There's even room for a non-Marvel Studios film, namely Sony's attempt at a Venom movie without Spider-Man (#22).

While the superheroes changed things around, there are plenty of holdovers, namely last week's deceased (#2,#3,#10), and success stories in film (#20), music (#19,#25), and gaming (#11). Still, new things are provided by people imprisoned (#5,#12) and released (#13), American (#8) and Association football (#9), the British royal family (#14,#17,#21), wrestling (#4) and the return of HBO's sci-fi hit series (#23).

For the week of April 22 to 28, the 25 most popular articles on Wikipedia, as determined from the WP:5000 report were:

Rank Article Class Views Image Notes
1 Avengers: Infinity War 5,294,829
WOW! Seeing this movie (after growing up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (#16) for the past decade) on opening night was absolutely bonkers. It really melted my mind. A lot of blockbuster movies tend to be referred to as "record breaking" or something like that. But Infinity War did break box office records for highest all-time domestic opening weekend ($257.7 million) and highest all-time worldwide opening weekend ($640.5 million). So there's that.
2 Avicii 2,146,099
A holdover from last week as readers are still reading up on the DJ who unfortunately passed away last Friday.
Down 1 spot from last week.
3 Verne Troyer 1,714,366
Troyer, like Avicii, also passed away late last week. No doubt, readers went to his article to read up on the actor best known for his role as Mini-Me.
Up 12 spots from last week.
4 WWE Greatest Royal Rumble Future class 1,497,962
As Avengers opened up in theaters on April 27, WWE's Greatest Royal Rumble was being broadcast. Braun Strowman (pictured) won the titular match.

This bottom-tier human being was apprehended on April 24.
6 Carol Danvers 1,104,732
With Infinity War being released, MCU fans are looking ahead to the future of the franchise (#24). It didn't hurt that (spoiler alert): Captain Marvel, who will be portrayed by Brie Larson (pictured), was teased during Infinity War's post-credit scene.
7 List of Marvel Cinematic Universe films 1,068,242
We're at 19 films now by the way. Robert Downey Jr. (pictured), has been brilliantly portraying (either that or he actually is) Iron Man in the series for the past decade now.
Up 16 spots from last week.
8 2018 NFL Draft 955,024
The National Football League's annual draft commenced on Thursday night. And with the number one overall pick, the Cleveland Browns selected Heisman Trophy winner and Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield (pictured). If you know anything about Cleveland football, this probably won't end well for Baker.
9 Mohamed Salah 927,591
Footballer Mo Salah won the 2017-18 PFA Players' Player of the Year Award on April 22. Two days later he scored twice for Liverpool against his former team.
10 Deaths in 2018 802,873
As you may have guessed by #2 and #3 (or due to this list's constant presence on the Report), readers were interested in keeping up with who has unfortunately been added to this list.
Down 1 spot from last week.
11 God of War (2018 video game) 785,182
A holdover from last week, as there is still major geeking out happening due to God of War's April 20 release.
Up 1 spot from last week.
12 Bill Cosby 759,820
As with #5 on this list, another absolutely bottom of the barrel individual, Bill Cosby was found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault on April 26.
13 Meek Mill 720,680
#FreeMeek supporters are rejoicing right now. He was released from prison on April 24, and mere hours later was flown in via helicopter to the Philadelphia 76ers closeout game over the Miami Heat. I'm a big fan of the Heat, but absolutely got nothing but love for Meek's music.
14 Prince William, Duke of Cambridge 709,237
Prince William was of interest due to his wife, Catherine (#17) giving birth to their third child on April 23 (or 23 April for you Brits out there).
15 Untitled Avengers film 681,515
So the ending of #1 read "Thanos will return". This is the where. May 2019 is when.
16 Marvel Cinematic Universe 676,588
The MCU pretty much needs no extra introduction at this point. Pictured is Kevin Feige, the producer behind the MCU, and geek culture icon, really.
17 Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge 665,253
Kate just recently had a baby (see #14), so congrats are in order.
18 Thanos 617,432

Still much Wiki love being given to this K-pop sensation.

So... should I say anything about A Quiet Place... or stay... quiet?
Down 14 spots from last week.

24 Captain Marvel (film) 558,605
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (pictured) are on tap to direct Marvel's next, next film. Readers were interested in Captain Marvel due to that aforementioned post-credit tease.
25 Cardi B 555,156
Rap queen Cardi B had 13 entries simultaneously on Billboard Hot 100, for the chart issue dated April 21, becoming the first female artist to do so. So, she's still riding a wave of interest right now.
