- Project News
- As we conclude 2007, we'd like to thank all the members who have contributed to the project by creating, tagging, assessing, expanding, sourcing, and improving the quality of the many articles in our scope. Since January 1, we have expanded our GAs from ~20 to ~130 and our FAs from ~35 to ~70. Our project has merged with several other WikiProjects, new task forces were created, coordinators were elected, and new departments were developed. In 2008, let's continue to improve the quality of film-related articles on Wikipedia by creating new articles, adding sources, and promoting articles to GA, A, and FA levels!
- *We have now reached over 36,800 film articles that have been assessed by our assessment department! Remember to always add the {{Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class and importance.
- A new department has been developed this month that focuses on future films. The department includes information about notability requirements for upcoming film articles, several lists of future films, and a to-do list. If you are interested in continuing our project's coverage of future films, please take a look at this new department!
- There are currently about 25 film and film-related articles at WP:GAN waiting to be reviewed. If you have not considerably edited one of the articles, you can perform a review by following these instructions. The list of articles can be seen here.
- A new WikiProject working group has been created to cover Korean films. If interested in assisting, you can join on the group's page.
- The Southeast Asian cinema task force is up to five members, with the addition of Badagnani. The Film awards task force added its 13th member, Wisekwai. French cinema has two members, with Luigibob joining.
- Spotlight Update: Multiple films and film-related articles have reached GA and FA/FL status in December 2007.

- New members to the project since the last issue include: Mike1981, Taifarious1, Jc-S0CO, Cinemaniac, Hazel77, Jauerback, JohnnieYoung, EconomicsGuy, Aaron1a12, and Shir-El too.
- Our project has been able to send out a newsletter every month this year. Thank you to all the members that contributed to each newsletter, which has helped to ensure that members are aware of the events within our project.
- Recipients of the WikiProject Films Award: J.D. and Wildroot
- Is there a member you believe deserves the WikiProject Films Award? Anyone is able to give the award, and if a member receives one, please let one of the newsletter editors know so we mention it in the next newsletter.
- Please add your name to the member list if you have not already.
