Requests for assessment
[edit]Editors can self-assess articles against the five B-class criteria(FAQ) up to and including C-Class. If you have made significant improvements to an article against one or more of B-class criteria and would like an outside opinion on a new rating for it, please feel free to list it below, specifying which criteria you have worked on. If you feel unable to assess against one or more of the B-class criteria, please say so when posting. Requests for formal A-Class review should be made at the review department. Please consider entering articles you have improved in the military history article writing contest.
Experienced assessors are encouraged to take a look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history/Coordinators#AutoCheck report for November and check a few of ≈ B-Class assessments. Feel free to downgrade them if you consider they don't meet one or more the criteria. Please also delete any that you have checked. See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Spaceflight/Assessment, whose articles often overlap with military history topics.

Prisoners of war in World War III recently created a bunch of POW-related articles; I think they should meet B-level criteria. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:05, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- Assessed as B-class - Dumelow (talk) 09:45, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
Allied prisoners of war in JapanSee above. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:05, 22 December 2024 (UTC)- Looking good Piotr. I wonder if it and similar articles would be better placed at Allied prisoners of war held by Japan? This would match the categories (eg World War II prisoners of war held by Japan) and this article already discusses those held in camps outside of Japan proper, eg. the Burma railway, Philippines etc. - Dumelow (talk) 09:45, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- Top-level articles are extremely difficult to write. Giving it a B, but it would need a lot of work to proceed further. Support proposed name change. Someone want to raise a Requested Move? Hawkeye7 (discuss) 23:40, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Hawkeye7 @Dumelow I am fine with the suggest name (of course, RM is good) but we should try to move all related articles for consistency. See the list in the top level one (below). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:41, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- Above, sorry :P Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:41, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- Regarding hard: I guess I find it not extremely hard (but yes, challenging). Depends on sources. The POW topics do not appear to be very well researched (at least as far as overview big picture monographs), so there are few sources, which makes it easier to get the big picture, but harder to make it comprehensive (since, well, there is stuff simply not written about...). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:44, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- Interest varies from one country to the next. You would think that the Americans would have devoted one of the Green books Special Studies but they have ignored the subject. Things are very different in Australia, where a great deal is written about it. Starting point is the official histories: The Japanese Thrust has a sizeable section on "Prisoners of the Japanese", and Air Power Over Europe, 1944–1945 has 32 pages on "Evaders and Prisoners".
