Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Rick Riordan task force/Outreach
This page is a place to host content related to the Rick Riordan Task Force's editor-outreach program, including: userboxes, invite and welcome templates, and other such content.
RRTF news
[edit]Stay informed! Placing the text {{Wikipedia:RRTF/Update}} on your userpage will automatically generate the task force's newsbox, which is updated every two months, or when the project receives word of a noteworthy event. (This template should not be subst.ed)
Invite templates
[edit]Invite new members! To invite a potential WP:RRTF member, go to their talk page and click "New Section". Then simply type {{subst:RRinvite}}
and click "Publish changes". The following message will be displayed on their page. The parameters |logo=
, |reason=
, and |signature=
are also available to customize the text and appearance of your message. Please see Template:RRinvite for information on how to use these.
Hello, (username here)! I'd like to invite you to join the new Rick Riordan Task Force (formerly the "Percy Jackson" Task Force), which works to improve articles related to Rick Riordan and his books. Check out our project page or contact me to learn more! -- (your signature and timestamp here) |
Award Templates
[edit]Award Members! To give the Percy Jackson Trident award to a fellow member, go to their talk page and click new section, or "+." Then type in {{subst:RRTF Trident Award}}
and click "Publish changes". That's it! The message would be displayed like this:
A Percy Jackson trident for you!
[edit]A Percy Jackson Trident for you! | ||
To (username here) for showing huge support and love into the Rick Riordan Task Force and being a sharp watchdog on the prowl for vandalism -- thanks for your help! (This award is rarely given, and only to the Rick Riordan Task Force.) |
Welcome templates
[edit]Welcome new members! Once a user has joined WP:RRTF, there are two options available to quickly and easily send them a welcome message. In both cases, go to their talk page and click "New Section". Then simply type one of the two following template IDs and click "Publish changes". The appropriate message will be displayed on their page, along with your signature and timestamp and the project banner. See the invite template above for an example of the formatting.
- In most cases,
{{subst:RRwel}}
is the simplest and most general form to use. It generates a message which informs new members how best to begin editing and stay informed of project updates.
{{subst:Wikipedia:Wikiproject Novels/Rick Riordan Task Force/Welcome}}
generates a similar message, but focuses on explaining the project's scope to newcomers. Visit this page to view the exact message.
Userbox templates
[edit]General purpose
[edit]Show off your membership! Four userboxes are currently available for members and supporters to use on their individual userpages to advertise their all-around involvement with the project.
Specializations
[edit]Percy Jackson & the Olympians
[edit]This is designed for members who want to express a higher familiarity with Percy Jackson & the Olympians, or the characters from Camp Half-Blood, as opposed to Rick Riordan's other works. It can also be used to signify a familiarity with Greek mythology, in the context of the WikiProject.
This user is a member of WP:RRTF, and specializes in pages relating to Percy Jackson & the Olympians. |
To add the userbox to your userpage, simply type {{Wikipedia:RRTF/PJ box}}
. Two optional parameters are also available (see below). Both can be used simultaneously, or not at all.
- Add
|float=
before the last brackets (}}
) to change the positioning of the userbox on your page. Typeleft
orright
, respectively, to align it to that side. By default, it "floats" to the left. - Add
|cat2=true
before the last brackets to tell the template to add your userpage to the optional Category:RRTF Greek mythology specialists. Omitting this parameter or replacingtrue
withfalse
will stop your page from being added to this category.
Kane Chronicles
[edit]This is designed for members who wish to express a higher level of knowledge about The Kane Chronicles, Egyptian mythology, or similar topics (within the WikiProject).
This user is a member of WP:RRTF, and specializes in pages relating to The Kane Chronicles. |
To add the userbox to your userpage, simply type {{Wikipedia:RRTF/Kane box}}

will stop your page from being added to this category. Note: Until a sufficient number of users have joined this category, it will appear as a redlinked "does not exist" category. This is perfectly normal.
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard
[edit]This userbox is for members who choose to specialize in Rick Riordan's newest series Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard. It also applies to members with a high level of knowledge about Norse mythology within the context of the WikiProject.

User maintenance
[edit]This userbox is for members who specialize in recruitment, outreach, dispute resolution, and the like (and for those who like the GIF). To use it, place {{Wikipedia:RRTF/UserM box}}
in the text of your userpage. It does not need to be substed.
The optional parameter |float=
may be used to align the box left, right, or center on your page. It floats left, by default. There is no way to suppress addition to the only category, Category:Rick Riordan task force participants, though it should be noted that this function is only active on user pages.
This user is a member of WP:RRTF, and specializes in user maintenance. |
Proposed
[edit]The following userboxes were created by 2ReinreB2 for potential use by the Rick Riordan task force. Please note that they will be nonfunctioning until moved to their own separate pages. Comments and suggestions should be posted on 2ReinreB2's talk page, the RRTF forum post here, or on this page's talk page. Comments about color contrast are especially appreciated, though it should be noted that color options are limited.
Tres Navarre
[edit]This is designed for members who want to express a higher level of knowledge about Rick Riordan's first series of novels than his mythological works.
This user is a member of WP:RRTF, and specializes in pages relating to Tres Navarre. |
Other media
[edit]This userbox is designed for users who want to specialize in pages about the graphic novels, motion pictures, and similar media that Rick Riordan was not involved with, but which still falls under WP:RRTF's scope. It may also include users with advanced knowledge of the works of John Rocco.
This user is a member of WP:RRTF, but specializes in pages relating to media not by author Rick Riordan. |
Heroes of Olympus
[edit]This is designed for members who want to express a higher familiarity with The Heroes of Olympus, or the characters from Camp Jupiter, as opposed to Rick Riordan's other works. This userbox currently adds users to both Category:Rick Riordan Task Force participants and Category:Percy Jackson task force participants (the latter is a defunct category).
This user is a member of WP:RRTF, and specializes in pages relating to The Heroes of Olympus. |
Page maintenance
[edit]This userbox is for members who are less concerned with content maintenance, and prefer to work on categorization, structure, etc.
This user is a member of WP:RRTF, and specializes in page maintenance. |

Current Rick Riordan Task Force Collaboration
This article is being improved to match the six Good Article criteria. You can help!
|
This template is to be placed on the talk page of an article that is the focus of one of more RRTF members. It uses several parameters to help editors keep track of their progress in improving an article. Each should be placed after the template's name and before the last brackets. Order does not matter.
- To change the percentage of "Formatting...": Add
|text=#
. The # represents the percentage, from 0-100, of the task completion. Any non-numerical value will break the template, so please only enter digits from 0 to 100 in this parameter. - To change the percentage of "Accuracy...": Add
|accuracy=#
. The # represents the percentage, from 0-100, of the task completion. Any non-numerical value will break the template, so please only enter digits from 0 to 100 in this parameter. - To change the percentage of "Neutrality...": Add
|universe=#
. The # represents the percentage, from 0-100, of the task completion. Any non-numerical value will break the template, so please only enter digits from 0 to 100 in this parameter. - To suppress the category: Add
|nosuppress=false
if you for some reason need to suppress addition of the page to Category:Rick Riordan task force collaborations.
The name of the user who originally places the template on a page will be displayed after "You can help!", so non-RRTF editors can contact a single person, rather than the whole team, if they so choose.
- Template:Isdoing may also be useful for collaborations.
- Template:CotM is an alternative, more widely used template for collaborations.
