The railroad of The Chaffee Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, located in Maryland. The main line extends from the north or Maryland end of the railroad bridge across the Potomac River at Chaffee, W.Va., in a general northwesterly direction to Vindex, Md., a distance of 3.102 miles. The carrier also owns 0.639 mile of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 3.741 miles of all tracks owned and used.

The railroad bridge across the Potomac River at Chaffee, W.Va., is jointly owned by the carrier and the Western Maryland Railway Company, an undivided one half interest each. The Western Maryland owns the track extending from the north end of the bridge to a connection with its sidetrack in Chaffee, a distance of 503 feet, which is jointly used by the carrier.
