The property of Pueblo Union Depot and Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, consists of a union passenger station and terminal facilities, including 2.603 miles of yard tracks and sidings, all in the city of Pueblo, Colo. This property is jointly used by The Denver and Rio Grande Railroad Company, The Colorado and Southern Railway Company, The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, The Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company, and the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company, which are hereinafter collectively referred to as the tenant companies.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated December 23, 1887, for a period of 50 years from that date under the general laws of the State of Colorado. It was incorporated in the interest of the tenant companies, or their predecessors, if any, for the purpose of erecting and maintaining a union passenger depot and terminal facilities in the city of Pueblo, and also for the purpose of constructing a belt line around the city. The date of organization is not disclosed by the records reviewed. The articles of incorporation were amended, the carrier filing a certificate, dated November 1, 1888, providing for an increase in the authorized capital stock to $300,000 par value and increasing the number of directors from five to six.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The passenger station and 2.603 miles of yard tracks and sidings owned by the carrier were all acquired by construction, which was begun about January 1889. The property was placed in operation in November, 1890. The station was constructed under contract by James A. McGonigle and the remainder of the work was done by the carrier's own forces. So far as can be ascertained from the records, the contractor was not affiliated in any way with the carrier's organization.
