The railroad of Sardis & Delta Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, built primarily for logging purposes. It is located in the northwestern part of Mississippi and extends from Sardis in a general west-southwesterly direction to Baptist, a distance of 13.117 miles. The carrier also owns 1.262 miles of yard track and sidings, which make the total owned mileage of all tracks 14.379 miles. In Appendix 1 will be found a general description of the property of the carrier.
Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated December 13, 1900, under the general laws of Mississippi, in the interest of the Carrier Lumber and Manufacturing Company. Control is vested in the carrier's president, R. M. Carrier, through ownership of a majority of the capital stock. Pursuant to the purpose of incorporation, the Carrier Lumber and Manufacturing Company constructed the carrier's property in 1901 and 1902 to provide facilities for getting out timber and operating the Carrier Lumber and Manufacturing Company's sawmill at Sardis.
