[edit]

The St. Joseph Branch Railway is a corporation of Missouri having its principal office at St. Louis, Mo. It is controlled by the Missouri Pacific through ownership of its capital stock. The records do not indicate that this company controls any common-carrier corporation. The property was operated by The Missouri Pacific Railway Company (of 1909) and its successor, the Missouri Pacific from July, 1910, the date of its completion, to December 31, 1917, since which date it has been operated by the United States Railroad Administration as a part of the operating unit of the Missouri Pacific.

Corporate History

[edit]

The St. Joseph Branch Railway was incorporated September 16, 1905, under the general laws of Missouri, for the purpose of constructing and operating a standard-gage railroad from a point on the Missouri River in Buchanan County, Mo., opposite Atchison, Kans., thence in an easterly direction through St. Joseph, Mo., about 26 miles. The date of organization was not determined.
